Xbox 360 HDMI Port Rumor Scenario: How to Appease Early Console Buyers

If you missed our post featuring a photo of the new Xbox 360 motherboard with theHDMI port, you can take a second look here. The verdict on its authenticity is still out and the rumored HDMI port is still that. So what else is new? Well, Andre Vrignaud, a member of the Xbox Team posted his thoughts on how MS should handle the fallout IF the HDMI rumor turns out to be true.

Mind you, Andre is not confirming the rumor. He's just painting a personal scenario on what MS should do to appease the 3,966,003 (and counting) already owners of the HDMI-less console. Andre says the HDMI port will not do much for existing gamers since it will mainly function as part of the HD-DVD playback (plus you need an HDTV for that).

So he doesn't think all three miliion Xbox 360 owners will take to street crying for blood. But for those who do want the HDMI port, Andre believes MS should offer an upgrade program - not necessarily free but reasonable - for good Karma. Again, Andre is just voicing out his personal view on a rumor. We can only hope MS executives will be as understanding.

i've got both an HDTV and plan to use the HD-DVD capability when it comes out... i'll be happy if they offer a reasonable upgrade possibility for people who already have the consoles (because honestly, improvements are things that happen, and early adopters can't complain.)

then again if by "upgrade program" they mean discounted price on a brand new console, then i'm all set, no thanks.

Just buy a new console from a big department store, pack your old 360 into the box, and return it for a full refund (assuming your old xbox is still in good condition, well you can exchange the covers if it isn't)

I don't care about HDCP, I want my 360 HDMI-less and full of exploits to watch HDCP encoded content at it's best and without the MPAA umbilical cordon attached to it

HDMI IS COMPATIBLE WITH CURRENT 360's! You can buy pre order HDMI cable and alot of import shops. And even if this was all true, that doesnt mean it was rushed. They understand that most do not have HDMI and are onlyadding it because full HD support with HD-DVD/Blue-Ray requires HDMI. Also with the PS3, if you get the $500 unit you will NEVER be able to use HDMI, so ***** your self in the face.

who said i was getting the 20gig unit, i might be a nin. fan. dont be mad cause you have a gimped system with out dated technology, deal with it, MS screwed you guys over. i own one now but i didnt get it with my money and i plan on trading it back in when the real next gen consoles launch, the 360 is like a warm up before the real thing.

SO why did Need for speed Carbon looked like sh*t on PS3?

Why didn't killzone look like the CGI rendered videos?

Why is it a ***** to program for?

Then why is the new metal gear game possible on the 360?

Why dosen't sony have more than 2 must-have exlclusives? (F.F. and MGS4)? Cuz Assassin's Creed sure ain't, remember?

Because Ubisoft didn't want to go through all the trouble to make a kick ass game that only a SMALL subsection of the gaming community will ever play (PS3 owners).

Actually, you should feel sorry for PS3 fanboys, cuz they are the ones taking it in the ass from sony...and the only reason Sony fanboys say the system was rushed is because they have to wait.....pathetic.

because it was, a person in their right mind will know that that was a target video. just like EA's madden 06

target video.

for your first question its like me asking why does microsoft have only 1 exclusive must have which is Halo 3, but i wouldnt even go there cause its stupid. if those 2 games are the only games that appeal to you well that you. as for assasin creed to tell you the truth i think it will come to the 360/pc but it will be timed exclusive or maybe not.

wow your funny indeed, to clear things up i do have a 360 for 1 soul reason i want gears of war, so i bought the tard park (playing graw for now). now am hoping the game comes out before the launch of the ps3 cause i plan on trading in the 360 for the ps3, so thats it. if any of you dumbasses have any more stupid comments like the one above then go ahead.

ps: i just felt like trolling cause am tied of the xbox fans commenting on the ps3 section.
