Xbox 360 getting advanced EyeToy-like technology? |
Ó
Who needs the Wiimote when you can just use... nothing at all? That's
the principle behind the motion-sensing camera tech from 3DV. Think of it like the EyeToy for the PlayStation 3, only more advanced. 3DV's website boasts that with the camera, called the ZCam, you can:[...] use your body freely to control games, no wearables required, no limitations attached.
Move your hand, leg, head or finger, in any direction and setting, moving quickly or making fine, minor movement - all these gestures are easily detected and understood by the system.
The system isn't perfected yet of course, but it seems that Microsoft already wants first dibs on it. According to the report from VentureBeat, Microsoft wants to buy 3DV for US$ 35 million (cheapskate, as always, Microsoft).
Are we going to see a new peripheral for the Xbox 360, or are they hunting for tech to put into their next Xbox console? Are we going to see the next generation of Wiitards sans Wiimote?
You know what I want to see? I want to see this tech working with this tech:
- Hope for full 3D games: Panasonic opens 3D Blu-ray labs
- CES 2009: Sony previews PS3 stereoscopic 3D support

the eyetoy gimmick died a long time ago -_-
can't keep up...
if they make a new camera for XBOX360..... *sigh*
they already have a camera for X360, why make a new.... i don't care about what it's capable of,,, with the economy constantly declining, i can't even afford a coca-cola without sacrificing something else.... god..
hope they wait with this for the next XBOX...
and i know someone are untouched by the economy,, but it's the minority that IS ("touched").. :(
i need vacation..
p.s.,,, if you're going to respond to my message, be civil, no need to be immature and stupid, and call me all sorts of things... you can talk to me like you would if i stood in front of you and smiled.
but theres always ALWAYS at least one troll.
I'm thinking Microsoft aren't chasing hardware so much as they are chasing software here. Has anyone played ubisoft's raving rabids on the 360? The camera actually works pretty well, it traces the outline of any movement.
Because they make people buy a lot of extra stuff they don't get when they by the original product.
My uncle got his 360 and had to go back out to by a HDD, then the wireless thing, then the Live account and subscriptions just to get an update to play the original XBox games.
what will they think of next -_-
im not 100% sure but i think i saw a product demonstrating where sony was boosting the eye toy's capability of doing this (sensing movement)... unless the "more advanced" makes a big difference.
According to that picture it seems like the white dude is taking a free throw shot with the ugliest form but i dont see the point why wud i want to use mroe energy to mimick a freethrow when i can just use my analog stick
it's novel... it's excercise... beyond that, you got me.
360 vision cam does this already and it sucks...
gold account is not required for xbox games... neither is wired/wireless net... you can burn the updates to cd.
it's not like no 360 ever comes with a hdd... if he purchased from a store with knowledgeable clerks they could of told him what he needed. or he could of done his own research...
i hope he doesn't go buy just any ps3 and expect to play ps2 games...
wasn't my intention to "troll" just said that it's bad timing for MS to do this,,, especially if they plan to release it anytime soon :(
:(
or does the guy in the pic look like he needs a swift kick up his ass?
I notice that when someone say something about adding up the expense to the 360 you seems to have some sort of argument about it. And why do you need to bring it the PS3 and PS2 if the dude didn't mention anything about the Playstation family. You can't let things go huh?
