Xbox 360 Elite enjoys fast sales in Amazon |

Microsoft's new Xbox 360 Elite package was sold out within hours of release in online retail site Amazon.com due to tremendous pre-order response from videogame fans across North America.
Microsoft's revamped console package created significant anticipation levels when it was announced that it would carry HDMI and a 120GB hard drive with it to put it on a more equal hardware footing with Sony's PlayStation 3 game console. An HD-DVD drive is also available for the machine, though users would have to purchase it separately to enjoy high-definition visuals from videos written in the format.
The Xbox 360 Elite carries a US$ 479 price tag, which is still cheaper than the standard PlayStation 3 bundle. The Xbox 360 console is still the overall market leader in console sales, but has trailed Nintendo's Wii in monthly figures since January.

LOL - what standard PS3 bundle? You mean the now defunct 20GB model. Now there's only the 60GB and the price difference is $120 - ouch! That's enough for two first rate games for the 360, or 4 platinum titles.
I have both 360 and PS3 and like them both. But this new ELite is really putting the hurt on Sony.
Wow. For the Elite to be selling out on Amazon only hours after it was put up on the site is incredible, especially for a console already a year into its life. This will only solidify the Xbox 360s number one spot, gooo MS!!

The elite hardware is the SAME, nothing new, not even the 65mn chip!!! WTF! I mean, the console will still make a lot of noise ( maybe a bit less since they changed the dvd player ), and it will still heat up like it's always doing righ now... My xbox 360 passed out after a week and after I returned it, I never wanted to buy another one. And now, we can have 120g of HDD, wow, for fun! I mean, with the "heavy" number of things you can do with an xbox 360's HDD... lol. M$ is stupid, if they wanted to win the war, they just had to put windows on their consoles... Or at least something that's looking like it!! I'll buy a ps3 instead, since I dislike the games on the x360 ( I hated Gears of war, halo was more fun ).

i have a 360 and a ps3 and i barely see any difference in both consoles , i like my 360 more cause it can do way more then the ps3 so far not to mention the game line up it has plus some of the most great games too , yeah sure the ps3 will have some great games soon and i am a big sony fan ( never owned an xbox before 360 , always had ps1 , ps2 , psp, and ps3 ) but i can tell u ms is heading toward the wining road with more exclusive going multiplatform.
how does the 360 do way more? not to be a idiot, i just own a ps3...the ps3 can surf the www. and download what ever the ipod can, upload music from cds,ipods,psp, and mp3s, play blu ray and dvd movies, download demos, trailers, and upgrades, help cure cancer through folding@home, have 4 player action, use bluetooth, wifi, tilt function gameing, and (soon) Home
i would greatly like a list of what the 360 can do so i may not be a blind gamer

Well without listing everything I can tell you One thing the 360 can do that the PS3 cant and that is being able to buy games for it, what choice is there on PS3 about Two games that are just above average the few others are all just last years 360 titles that you have to pay FULL PRICE for but are BUDGET price on the 360 even though they are exactly the same game(though the PS3 suffers some framerate loss)....
Oh wait yes but in 100 years this or that is coming out, by the time any decent games are out on PS3 everyone will have enjoyed all the next gen genre of games and will almost be ready for the release of the next round of consoles..

I like my PS3 - makes a great Bluray player, however, the only other thing to do with it is "folding". Kinda boring really =/

Ya, the 360 Elites are selling out everywhere, i dont know how it was in other places, but if it were anything like it was here (wal-mart had 2 in, target had 4, best buy 6, thats it) it wouldnt be too hard to sell out. I bought one and i have to say i enjoy it just as much as my PS3. They are both great consoles. I wish they would have at least built in WIFI in to the elite though.
