Major Nelson has posted a stern warning to those who cheat to win in Shadow Complex. In his message to the Shadow Complex community, he said that in an effort to enrich the gaming experience of players, they will be enacting strict measures, even if it means "deleting leaderboard information generated by those who try to compromise our game."

Starting this week, the XBL enforcement team will be weeding out the cheaters in the game, because according to him, they "have not only violated the spirit of the game, but they have also violated the Xbox Live Terms of Use."

The initial steps that the team will be taking to those player accounts verified cheating are the following:
  • The player will be deleted from the “Shadow Complex” leaderboard
  • The Xbox LIVE enforcement team will investigate individual players removed from the leaderboards for potential resetting of the userÂ’s gamerscore. The reset would include all games, not just “Shadow Complex.”
  • Those accounts determined by the Xbox enforcement team to have their gamerscore reset will be branded on Xbox LIVE as belonging to a cheater, and this information will be reflected in the gamer profile, both on Xbox.com and in the Xbox Dashboard on the console.
He finishes by reiterating the XBL team's and Chair Entertainment's firm stand on providing a level playing field, as well as the best overall game experience on XBL.

I am not sure what they mean by cheating, but depending on the nature of the cheat it can be pretty annoying for other players.

Aimbots, wall hacks and having a rocket launcher shoot rockets as fast as an SMG are very much annoying for all players in the game and it makes it no fun (im talking halo).

I do like the idea that they get cheater plastered on their gamercard....that is sweet.

Sure, that would be a problem if this were a multiplayer game, but this is a single player game. Like I said, besides leaderboards I don't see why the hell it matters if someone cheated.
