Street Fighter 2 Akuma in HD - Image 1Much to the dismay of video game developers whose venue is the Xbox Live Arcade, the 150MB file size limit may not be bumped up any time soon. According to Jeremy Wacksman, Microsoft's global marketing manager for Xbox Live, there's no sufficient reason to raise XBLA games' size limit.

Talking about the cap in an interview at the Game Developers Conference 2008 recently published by Gamasutra, Wacksman clarified that there are no planned changes since "it ensures small, pick-up-and-play games." He also noted that they haven't heard too much developers complaining about the limit.

XBLA's marketing man cited examples of impressive downloadable games that managed to remain bite-sized, such as Undertow and Castle Crashers. He did admit that the PlayStation 3 having no file size limit matters to developers case-by-case, but stressed out that XBLA is all about pick-up-and-play games and accessible games.
