Xbox Live's Parent Timer now available for download - Image 1As was reported previously, the fall update for Microsoft's Xbox 360 console landed today.

While the update will host plenty of new features that'll keep resident gamers and videophiles quite busy for this season's holidays, we imagine that the parents are gonna want to keep an eye on their little tykes.

With that in mind, we're reminding you that the Parent Timer is now available for download via Xbox Live. This handy feature will enable you to control your Xbox 360's game time on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis, and also emits a warning message to remind your kids it's time end their session.

In line with this update, Microsoft's corporate vice president of Global Marketing Jeff Bell had this to say:

As a leader in interactive entertainment, it has been our priority to innovate and improve our Family Settings technology to help parents worldwide manage their childrenÂ’s video gaming and online experiences.

Family Timer should be available in all regions with an available XBL service.

I'm going to download it just so that I can pop a movie in at night and not have to worry about falling asleep/leaving the console on all night

Who in there right minds would even download this timer. Ok i can see this benefiting people who are in dorms or something that makes sure no one hogs your system. But what parent will even know about this feature, or even know where to find it and download it. I mean no xbox 360 owner would even download this if its interferes with there game time.

Lousy feature if you ask me. how stupid do they think kids are.
