The release of next-generation survival horror title The Darkness for the PS3 and Xbox 360 looms upon us as the end of 2006 approaches, and once again we're here to fill the gap between the games announcement and it's release in the first quarter of 2007. The Darkness is being published by 2K games and developed by Starbreeze studios, a combination that's likely to produce a Resident Evil killer if there were one.

Rather than Zombie-bashing, The Darkness puts you in the shoes of Jackie Estacado, a mafia hitman in an action-adventure style game with a horror twist. On Jackie Estacado's 21st birthday, the awesome and terrible powers of "the Darkness" awaken within him allowing Jackie to wreak havoc on his enemies - giving you the power to do whatever you please. The Darkness is based upon the original comic book comic book “The Darkness”, created by Top Cow.
