Liepzig's GC 2007 sure is getting its game on with a lot of good stuff being shown off the developers from all over the industry. One particular trailer that caught our eye is that of Massive's upcoming real-time strategy title for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the PC called World in Conflict. See this to find out why:

Wow, was that Pearl Jam or Creed's old vocalist singing in the background? Maybe neither. It sure sounds like them, though. In any case, the rocking soundtrack perfectly complements the visuals shown in the clip. The retro feel suits this RTS well and we can't wait for some gameplay footage to be seen.

Set in 1988, the story narrates the final phases of the Cold War where economic woes are paralyzing Mother Russia. Instead of following history where the Soviet Union collapses, however, World in Conflict portrays a "what if" scenario where the Red Army keeps the old superpower together and rolls out to wage war on its neighbors. The Western Allies, of course, react out of fear and duty, setting the stage for a dramatic confrontation in a war that never was.
