Forget Trump and Rosie! If you're looking for spewing acid, the rumble is on between Microsoft and Sony with MS firing the first shot. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz at CES 2007, the general manager of MS game development group Chris Satchell called Sony's Playstation Network and Xbox Live "killer" a "disaster."

Not to be outdone, Peter Moore, Microsoft's interactive entertainment business vice-prez, said "It is not in Sony's DNA to be able to get that up and running from zero." According to Moore, unlike Sony, MS took four years to get to where it is today. "It's going to take them a couple of years to get up to speed on this. And I'm not sure that they necessarily have the talent, or that it's built into who they are as a company."

We've never heard such fighting words of this magnitude since Rosie called Trump a "pimp" and Donald called Rosie a "degenerate."

The full interview with Satchell will be posted by GamesIndustry.biz tomorrow. But you can read the full interview with Moore by clicking on the "Read" link below.

# PSN network is new, remember the first Xbox Live?Vietone 2007-01-10 11:23
Its funny that MS is saying this since when Xbox Live was first available, it was pathetic. It tooks months before games really used the features and there was lag then and years later its still laggy.

At least the PSN does online gaming justice by having their own game servers, Xbox Live is all about simplicity in a closed environment, PSN is all about freedom of choice.

Microsoft, being a software company, has done horrible on Xbox Live. They have nothing original, all they did, was take alot of ideas and put them into one unified system.

There is a problem with Xbox Live and its still lag, something thats nearly non-existent in PS3 games. I stopped playing Xbox Live because no matter how fast my connection was, the host would always dictate how well a game is enjoyed.

Xbox Live combined a online system thats over a decade old with new services. I would rather have the PS3 do the same thing as PC games and use dedicated servers and use advertisements. I would rather watch a 10 second commercial while connecting to a game thats lag-free then pay 50 a year and never knowing if the game will be laggy or not.

# psn isn't that bad.Guest 2007-01-10 11:46
I'm sure people who tried psn themselves wouldn't think it's bad.

it's free and fast, and the UI is quite simple/intuitive although it's still true that xbl is superior in many ways.

personally, I'm satisfied with psn so far that they post downloadable stuff quite often.

To the guy that said xbox live was a disaster at point 1, To correct you on those terms xbox live wasnt a disater it was lookin amazing for the 1st online service for that gen of console now im not trying to start an argument but this is thee next gen and what im seeing from live is fan-tabi-dosey has everything I need in one place now look at sonys playstation network or in there words a Xbox Live killer everything is strewn about and no unified friends list(Havent seen those but I have heard there is none) thats just abismal. So my words are I started with microsoft and im staying with microsoft anyone wants to question that fine please do but dont start with the fanboy *****e please.

GTFO my internets.

Xbox live wasnt bad when it first came out, it didn't have all too many features, but I was on with UnrealChampions hip and GhostRecon all the time and had no problems with lag or any bugs. The unified system is great, it makes things universal so we don't have to go around using propriatary ***** (Although the closed environment needs some tweaking, but it's still possible to get an MMO on it with no problem.) All you need is a .NET passport and a silver xbox live account. Xbox live is still way better with a much better environment anyways *Unless you are talking about screaming 12 year olds* So seriously, you are totally talking straight from your ass and when xbox live was first available, no one I knew had broadband internet and I was first out of my friends to get on it, but nearly 3/4ths of my friends are on it now. PSN might be great with no lag, but I couldn't deal without the other downloads I get with XBL.

# Excellent Word Vietone...Guest 2007-01-10 13:08
I dont Need to Say Anything Really...

As the Number of games in Xbox Live Increase...the pressure on MS will increase,Contro ling all these Servers Cost Resource,Staff and Management.

The result.....The Lag in Xbox Live

Sony played it Smart...it threw the Pressure on the 3rd Party Companies to Make their Own Servers...Thus it Can focus more on the Other Aspects of the Network Like Demos,Downloads and Others.

Games Wont Lag in PSN...if it Does...its Basicly the 3rd Party servers Fault..Not Sony

Each Game will Have its Own Unique Interface...so You Know How you are Doing in your Particlular Favourite Game...

Its Only a Month and so...yet The PSN is Magnifecent,The GTHD demo..the PSP connectivity,Th e Lag-free Gaming...and this is Sony,s First Real Network.

It will Only Get Better from Now On....And with the Open-Nature of PSN...We can Expect some Unique Features In the Future

# Sony is "slow"Guest 2007-01-10 13:53
Sony store sucks. GTHD took me nearly 3 hrs to dwnl. not to mention the sorry system update that took 40 min. of my life. Plus GTHD look like crap (I had it on a 1080p tv with HDMI) PGR 3 looked better than that crap.

A store is one building with two or three departments, in contrast, a Marketplace is a system of "stores" Marketplace the name kicks Sony's fabricating @ss.

GTHD looked like crap? really? Because I fail to see how GTHD looked like crap.

Im sure an Xbot like you doesn't have the decency to admit when graphics look good when it's on PS3.

If GTHD was on the 360 and PGR3 was on the PS3, im sure your statement would be "PGR 3 look like crap (I had it on a 1080p tv with HDMI) GTHD looked better than that crap."

^BTW you might want to check your spelling and grammar next time to avoid looking like an idiot, like you do now...

Anyone agree?

Okay, unless you actually own a PS3, and if you do, then you need to get a new TV or something, but, it does support 1080P, I downloaded it on day one for the US and it was great, and it still looks great, how you can doubt GT to look anything but awesome, then, well, you my friend, are, indeed, a moron:-P

Wow, I can't believe all of those mistakes in my writing. Oh! wait! there's not any, so shut up homo. The fact is my TV is 1080p my 360 like my PS3 runs in 1080p. Rather the dwnl. is in 1080p f*ck if I know. Another thing I own Resistance, and those graphics kick @ss.Furthermore I just said that GTHD (in my opinion) was not as breathtaking as everyone claims it to be, and as so the juxtaposition of PGR3 and GTHD, PGR3 looks better not because it is on the 360, but because it truly looks better.

LOL... "GHD" (retard)... anyway no one agrees with you Jettic, so go back to PS3 updates where I'm sure your support group will welcome you home. The current topic there, "Why does GTHD look like *****?" Just kidding

andrew you really need to mature a little but thats something we can all wait for while enjoying your amazingly harsh comments. But despite my distaste for your diction I agree that GTHD isnt that impressive. It seems to me to just be GT4 running in 1080P with larger textures. Theres no damage system, the background is low res and 2d, all those things add up but the cars just look amazing. Nice to see they axed GTHD and commited themselves to a completly new build of the game designed for the PS3 instead of continuing to tweak this GT4 port.
