wmp11

Okay, remember how we told you guys that with tomorrow's XBL dashboard update you'll now be able to stream WMV videos to your 360's? Well, they've just released the final Windows Media Player 11 so if you're planning on making full use of the dashboard update, we recommend that you get WMP 11 so you can stream videos to your 360's.

Also, WMP 11 will have the new media sharing feature which will let you stream not only videos, but the other data on your media library as well, to networked devices like DMRs (Digital Media Receiver), your Xbox 360 (of course), etc. Oh, and you might also want to read up on the Windows Media Encoder, because it will help you convert most other video formats into WMV, thus enabling you to view them on your 360s.

Anyhoo, most of the other stuff you'll need to know (like the technical whatnots and the other cool features that come with WMP 11) is discussed in detail at the MS site, so if you want more info on the media sharing feature and other stuff, simply click on the link below and you're all set. Alright, so just download the .exe file for WMP 11 below and you'll be up to speed just in time for when the update is released. Enjoy!

PlayStation 3 will win the next-gen console war because PS3 is the only next-gen console in the world. Xbox360 is a ripped off version of Xbox 1, and Wii is another rip off from GameCube. Only PS3 is the true upgrade from PS2; so there’s only 1 next-gen console in existence.

Microsoft is so pathetic, they are selling Xbox 2 which is rushed and unfinished and full of problems. The true and righteous and is Xbox 2, not some kind of Xbox 360 of which name can be made by a 5 year old kid – so what’s next, Xbox 450? MS only named it Xbox 360 because if they name it Xbox 2 then it will look bad right next to PlayStation 3 on the shelves at retailers. So, people think Xbox 360 (three) is something which is similar to PS 3 (three).

X360 is currently the most powerful console which exists, and this is a fact. Another fact is that X360 is the most powerful until another comes up, and this is a fact too. If your ignorant brain can’t understand this and if you want to argue with me then think it like this. Mike Tyson was the world’s most powerful boxer for some years. Until recently. Until a better boxer appeared. This is a fact, just deal with it.

X360 owners must not feel bad for such facts, X360 is obviously worthy for its price. If you want to play Oblivion, you must have a good (decent and new) PC (personal computer) to be ‘able’ to play it; and a decent new PC costs you about $3,000 - $5,000. However, if you decide to go the path of console than you only have to waste about $500 (relatively a lot less) to be ‘able’ to play Oblivion.

Do you want to know why X360 is doing so badly in Japan even though X360 is currently the world’s most powerful console? If you haven’t learnt history then you won’t know. Microsoft people should read this comment of mine. Americans have no patriotism. Japanese people have world’s most powerful patriotism in the world. (I’m only relatively speaking, of course Americans have some patriotism but compared to the patriotism of Japanese, American’s patriotism is like garbage.)

Americans work for themselves and their families. Japanese people work and live for Japan (the country). That’s the big difference. Let’s take an example. In Japanese company, if a project must be done by deadline and haven’t finished yet, then the employees will work overtime for many days to finish that project on time; and don’t (the righteous word is ‘never’) even ask for more payment because Japanese people live for the whole (in this case, it’s the company), not for individual. If there’s a same situation in a company in America, the American employees will say no if they’re asked to work overtime. Maybe some will agree to work overtime but will require a lot more payment. (North America is all about individuals.)

You need another example? How about World War II? Japan was an ally of German (axis), and Japan attacked Pearl Harbor (USA) with hundreds of small fighter planes. Those small airplanes are called Kamikaze and it means sort of suicide attackers. The only way Japan could inflict damage to the USA in 1945 was using Kamikaze tactic. Japan barely produced thousands of Kamikaze planes but these airplanes could only carry enough fuel to go from Japan to Pearl Harbor (Hawaii). So it was totally impossible for Japanese pilots to come back to Japan after dropping bombs in Hawaii. (Landing in Hawaii’s airport was just impossible too.) These Japanese live for their country and think the whole country’s sake is more valuable than individual’s sake. So the tactic was that Kamikaze pilots will collide with enemies and die for Japan. (One small Kamikaze carried enough bombs to sink down one American Carrier. Relatively much difference there.)

» wow... just, wow

i don't even know where to begin with you, so i'm just not going to to... the righteous word is 'never', OK??

i keep thinking, "if this is who the PS3 has defending it, i'm never buying one"

I have one question, where do I red up on the Windows Media Encoder. I have avi files I want to convert. Thanks.

#1 I will totally agree about Americans not being as patriotic as Japanese, but isn't that a good thing though..... Shouldn't individuals strive towards their own goals and not the goals of the country.....

That's why I hate them with passion because of their stubbornness to try out something new. They are hanging on to the PlayStation like it means everything to them. They never give good First Person Shooters a chance just like we don't here in America to Japanese animated games. You need to realize that Sony was in the console market since 1994 where as Microsoft released their first Xbox in 2001. I honestly want to give them some credit for actually selling 24 million original Xboxs even when Sony was at full speed unleashing PlayStation 2. Xbox 1 beat GameCube which was made by a company dedicated to just video gaming industry for god's sake. As far as the power goes, no one can really tell which one is more powerful. According to spec sheets, PS3's "RAW" performance is slightly better than Xbox 360's. But it might turn out otherwise in the real world. By all standards it should be a given that a console released later should be more powerful than it's early competitor just like last gen with Xbox 1 and PS2. Sony has been a big disappointment as I see no distinguishable difference between games as of today (Speaking the truth here). Especially, with all delays and shortages (Another shortage announced today: Japan is only getting 80,000 consoles as opposed to 100,000). I know I might sound contradictory right now because it seems as if I don't want to give a PS3 a chance, but then on the other hand I'm asking people to give Xbox 360 a chance. Microsoft was new to this market last gen, and this year, seems like they got some of their act together. I predict they will close the gap that happened with PS2 and Xbox 1, yet they will still trail slightly behind the PS3 (Not by much). I say 40 million PS3s (Mainly due to the huge PS2 fan base) will sell and 35 million Xbox 360s.

Last gen, the power did not come even close as the winning factor for the consoles. PS2 was way inferior to the Xbox 1, yet it still dominated due to the game library and the variety of game genres. Xbox 1 was pretty much the FPS god, but not the Xbox 360. Everyday I check out different gaming sites, and I find more and more Xbox 360 RPGs, Racing Games, Sports Games, and Third Person Shooters. Better yet, many games, Microsoft is keeping to themselves and exclusive to the Xbox 360.

Oh yea, a few month ago I was browsing internet and came across a very interesting statistic. We, hardcore gamers make up maybe 20% of the gaming market, where as Casual gamers make up over 60%. So ask yourselves, why do you think Xbox 360 has arcade games? Many people (casual gamers) enjoyed simple games and they still do. I'm sure PS3 will do something similar with their classic arcade catalog. I just think, this time around, the tables turned. PS3 is going after the hardcore fans with their fully packed BluRay drive, Cell Processor, 60GB Drive. Face it people, 90% people don't even know what BluRay is.... Mommies and Daddies will walk into the stores this holiday season and will have no clue which console to buy. But, once they see PacMan or DigDug or something that they enjoyed decades ago will convince them to get a Xbox 360. (Count in the price and deficit of PS3's and you get a wasted holiday season for Sony).

Please don't bash me. I'm just trying to express my opinion about this whole issue. Please correct me if you find any of the information invalid.

» for the ones who are interested

the updating feature now really worx so if your mp3`s are not tagged the way they should be u now have the chance by letting the mp11 let doing it. integration into 360 now worx alot better and everything runs much smoother now so anyway we`ll see what the 360 update will bring us with connectivity but till now everything worx fine. uninstall the media connect crap before updating to mp11 because otherwise there is no chance to do so, because extender and stuff is not needed anymore. to all the fanboys who are "contributing" at the moment : F*ck simply off you don`t have a 360 so why you are even here ?! just to flame ?! get lost for heavens sake. the 360 is really a cool machine and i can see that MS is really having plans to connect everything that has to do with home media and gaming and put it all together ! In other Words : They DO have avision while sony only has to prove till now they have one. I was into every Console till now but all this crappy fanboying makes me dizzy. if u don?t want a 360 why complaining bout something you don`t have...stay with the ps3 blog. if there are 5 real cool and unique games out there for the ps3 and it`s price drops at 400 € i`m gonna buy one. But Sony has to prove not just throwing out promises ! I own a PSP and what`s up with this real beatiful and powerful machine ?! Nothing more than ps2 conversions that really suck and a handfull of games that are really kewl...we`ll see who will win but first of all i`m gonna buy a Wii besides my 360 because it`s a affordable addition and not a promise unkept till now...

» something i forgot...

that everything is now tagged with LIve that is approaching at the shores really MEANS something ! Think about it while you are reading i`m pretty sure that everything that is named live gets connected to each other and i like that ! I can understand why eg MajorNelson is so excited about everything thats happening right now and in the not so distant future. He spents so much time to give something to the gamers that even on his sunday mornings when there is no work or official meeting or so going on he even records a 90 minute show to keep 360 gamers updated with information and stuff, interviewing people who are really into stuff. go on think about it !

Wut does ne of this have to do with the final version of WMP 11 being released? Who gives a rats ass about which console is better, when it comes down to it, its the games that make it a great console and as of now all the next-gen consoles have good games going for them. Ne wayz WMP 11 is pretty sweet

» lolololol

wow....You try to come off as smart....

To bad Sony is lying and cheating thier way through the console war...Thier profits are down, they are stealing other companies ideas (Motion Sensing, Arcade, Guide Button)...

not to mention that Microsoft OWNS any company out there. Your probably using windows to write that message you fool.

» X360 sucks a lot as Media Center

i Have a PSP and a Xbox1 and Xbox360. Xbox360 is the WORST MEDIA CENTER UNIT i've ever Seen. PSP is way better than X360 as Media Center. Xbox1 and XBMC (Not a microsoft program), is one of the Best Media center units i know until today. X360 totally sucks at this area. I am sure Ps3 is already too much better as Media Center (Based on my psp) than x360. MP11, is quite cute, but stills a bad experience. Library is confusing and the creation of the invisible "AlbumArt" files is very ANOYING.

Crack is good, I like crack. Can I have some?

» How sad.

First, this has nothing to do with the topic. Posting anything along the lines of %u201Cconsole X is better then Y and Z%u201D in a random topic automatically makes what you have to say nothing more then fanboy flame fodder. Even if you had the most articulate and well thought piece of writing on the subject ever it's now moot. For the record, your post was nether.

Second, all of your arguments are poorly thought out and your facts seem to have no point. We all know that the 360 name was meant as a defensive move against the PS3. It's also obvious that consoles only remain %u201Cthe most powerful%u201D for a relatively short amount of time as most companies release a new console every 4 to 6 years. So what? Are you trying to imply that the PS3 is %u201Cmore powerful%u201D then the 360 simply because it's being released a year later? It's quite obvious that in terms of what the hardware is capable of the PS3 is indeed %u201Cmore powerful%u201D in many ways. What does that have to do with sales? The XBOX was released a year after the PS2 and clearly had the graphical edge, but that didn't stop the PS2 from outselling it in any key market. It also doesn't take into account the fact that the 360 currently has a installed user base. For at least the next year the number of XBOX 360s sold will be higher then the number of PS3s sold. After that, who knows and honestly.. who cares?

Third, patriotism? Did you ever think that maybe the failure of the first XBOX and Microsoft's subsequent problems with the 360 has more to do with the fact that the XBOX has 1/3rd the number of titles the PS2 has in Japan? How about the fact that Microsoft has no clue how to market a system to a non-western audience? The iPod sells extremely well in Japan despite the fact that a vast majority of MP3 players are made by Japanese and Korean companies, and what the hell does World War II have to do with this topic AT ALL?

Overall I give you a D+

» Wow

Wow, amazing, I could not have done a better job, very well written and thought-out post, I applaud you cerberus414 for actually doing some research and getting some facts, unlike some people who just post anything sony or microsoft say, GOD gave us a brain, the facts are out there if we all do a little research we can all come up with sensible conclusions.

» hm....

so dragging a mp3 file into your PSP...is better than streaming music wirelessly to your 360 without taking up any memory...?

wow, I'm willing to bet a thousand dollars you dont own a 360...

by wii60 - 2006-10-30 21:36
» Sony you steal everything and you still suck

Oh, ***** OFF!! sony fanboys for christ sake youv'e iritable all got sand in your vagina's cause the 360's winning and the wii's gonna take a giant dump on it when it comes out. Common on, They took spiderman2 font, nintendo's motion sensor, Ms guide button, nothing they have is original. WII60 gonna rock your worlds

by Jon - 2006-10-31 07:43
» OMG

you people have way too much time...

I must say I own a NES,SNES,N64 ,PSone Ps2, PSP

I dont own any xbox just for the simple reasons that

I dident like their controls, However I have played both

Xbox 1 and Xbox 360,

They are generaly both a good console,

I wouldent mind haveing a PS3 AND an Xbox360

But NONE of this has ANYTHING todo with this update...

So really argue somewhere else as it dont matter,

People that want a ps3 are gonna buy one,

people who want a xbox360 are gonna buy one,

I persaonally wouldent listen to any of you at this point,

I would find the facts for myself,

And one other thing...

How are you all judgeing a product that has not yet shipped? I mean come on, who cares if they only made 80k for japan... Im not hurt by it, Ill get a ps3 when they have them instock and ready to rock. (probally after the price goes down a bit too..)

Every console will have its ups and downs,

Im sure sony and microsoft are doing WAY better than anyone who has responded here so give them some credit.. Or just open c# and try to write some code..

youll see its alot easier to yap about than actually do.

Good Day, Jon
