WikiScanner detects SCEE's edit to Halo wiki entry |

Here's a screenshot of the said edits - the red text to the right indicates the new additions (click to enlarge):
What makes the news all the more interesting is that WikiScanner traced the editor's IP address - 217.18.23.2 - to SCEE's Liverpool (UK) studio. Black propaganda from Sony to stifle Halo 3's upcoming launch this September 25? Unlikely - Wikipedia indicates that the edit was done way back in April. What we're looking at is probably someone at the SCEE office having a bit of fun...at the title's expense.
So, why did it take so long to detect this months-old tweak? WikiScanner was introduced to Wikipedia on August 14, 2007 - only a little more than two weeks ago. Check back in case WikiScanner picks up more of these unsolicited edits to the site.

same can be said
anyway, since anybody can edit Wikipedia and an ip address neither identifies a specific person or even computer (if behind a router and then even possibly behind switches), I doubt that it's anybody truly important in the grand scheme of all things Sony
just another fanboy being fanboyish

And Halo 3 has already been played by many, people know what they are in for.

The one thing you were correct on is that it probably was not anyone very important to Sony, just some desk job lackey who hates his life. It's still pretty low though. It's also stupid and pointless too, seeing as how Wiki monitors every page and has all pages on archive, so they can restore the page to it's previous state in a matter of seconds once somebody notices the change. And you can probably bet that the Halo 3 page is monitored at all times. Even I know that, so why bother making derogatory edits?

however all the previous post did intend to ignore the prank theory completely and thus proving themselve to be anti-sony (the "I own ps2 and not ps3" are sometimes used as a self censored imaggery of Fanboyism), or M$ Fanyboy and possible even Nintendo Fanboy.

Also im sure like he says its nobody important, however Halo 2 was pretty much the same as halo 1 with some online play differences and a few new weapons. Maybe thats why they stated this. Whats also important is Sony isn't even afraid of halo3 i mean they weren't for the first two, why be afraid now. There already coming back in sales in japan and its only a matter of time.

The router takes the IP Address that's assigned by the ISP. The 217.18.23.2 is what was assigned to the SCEE UK office by whoever they are using for their service provider. That points at their building, their ingress. Then every computer in that building has it's own internal IP address, set up by their IT people.
Do you even know how networks work?

Also did you know about that guy who changed info about the Chris Benoit death in JHune 27, they said the ip address was from WWE headquarters which it clearly wasn't the case.
Hackers can make it look so so please stop thinking you know more than anyone here, i know alot about PC's.
