Widescreen bug for BioShock discovered |

Widescreen gaming fans, you may want to shield your eyes. It seems there's a bug in BioShock (Xbox 360, PC) that you guys aren't going to like, as it has something to do with the field of vision inherent in the game.
According to a post from Paddywak on the 2K Games forums, it seems that the field of vision remains the same regardless of screen type you're using. For people who aren't using widescreen, this won't be a big deal, but widescreen users hoping to get everything out of the game will be disappointed to find out that the top and bottom of the screen (the red portion in the picture) gets cut off.
The forum posters on the post we found seem to agree that it's a problem on both the PC and 360 versions of the game. That being said, we're hoping a fix comes for this issue soon, as it's certainly unappealing to buy a game for your special widescreen setup only to end up settling for less.
Anyone experienced the same thing?

@derdude: STFU MS had nothing to do with that.
and idk this is weird cause i know the 360 demo didn't look like that on my 360 which was at 1080i on a 20" widescreen tv. don't have a widescreen PC monitor to check but i would assume that a simple patch should fix that.
probably get a usermade one in the next few days for the PC version.

And yes, there is something wrong with that.
the OS has nothing to do with it. it was the way they coded the game for widescreen output. a patch will fix this easily.
That is a pretty bad bug, which really should have been spotted. Espech since some games eg GOW were programmed for widescreen.

Easy fix, its happened before on a few PC games. I prefer playing full screen but thats my preference.
im running the demo on wide screen i was only disappointed with the object models the water made up for it though
Man, how can anyone get mad about this? I have a widescreen laptop, and let me tell you that it's fine enough just to have the game in proper aspect!
I agree that it should be a pretty easy fix, but damn for a game that got rated as high as it did, already a quazi-big bug like that? Wonder if anything else will go wrong.
This isn't a bug. It's just an alternate method of handling widescreen that a lot of engines use. Quake 3's engine did it as well.

Remember, the vast majority of PC users yet to upgrade their screens to widescreen. This was probably an easy way to make it widescreen without messing up the proportions on everything.
You will really only notice this is you have the ability to switch between widescreen and 4:3....if you play the game totally in widescreen you wouldn't even know....

Said the PS3 fan. Go play Virtua fighter 5 without online fighting. Go play FEAR, The darkness and Madden with subpar graphics and Framerate issues. Go play MGS4 in a year than buy MGS online wish everyone knows should have been included on MGS4 EXPECIALLY when all sony toutes about is Blue ray having superior space when they cant even fit an online mode and force you to pay an extra 60$. Go buy your Sixaxis controllers and then in a year go buy them again with supported rumble. Enjoy your forum flamming because you sure as hell can't enjoy your PS3 gaming. Now, off to play GOW.

XBlowx711? Thats probably the most uncreative play on the xbox 360 i've ever encountered. You could've leveled up a little by calling it atleast the xbot or the gaybox. Half-assed unfinished products? The game got some of the highest reviews in recent memory and most notably the highest scores for the year.. unfortunatly for you squashing all the games that came out for you PS3 considerably and leaving you with that bad taste in your mouth and that unclever wit that you so gracefully type out. Is this really a big deal? No. Is this worth complaining about? YES. I didn't buy a high definition TV to get an INFERIOR picture. People with SDTVs are getting a better view than me? Screw that.

Looks like those two games are on pace to get an average score of about a 6 by the reviewers. But of course everyone must be wrong and they have to be the best games ever cause they are on the PS3.
Meanwhile those of us who are not blinded by our obsession for Sony will be playing Halo 3, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Madden 08 in 60 fps, Lost Oddyssy and Fable 2 before you get a decent exclusive.
