There's a video going around from Xbox-Scene of the Zephyr in action. The HDMI port is seen in the vid connected to a PC LCD screen. They say that it's still a prototype version (think DevKit) and no one still knows whether or not this HDMI port will be in released at the same time of the supposed new ANA scaler chip.
Since Microsoft has given a statement about not giving a statement on "speculative items" such as the Zephyr, we're still notching this as a rumor for now despite seeing an actual video of it in action. For all intents and purposes, all this hullabaloo will finally (and hopefully) be cleared come CES on the 8th. While we wait for that to happen, here's the vid:

That video looks REAL to me! I think it is true. All of the pics from even months ago are exactly the same as the final build layout of the new 360. I really won't need the upgrade personally, but I could use that 120-160GB Hard drive!...

well i can tell that video is a complete work of a person with too much time. i dont get whats the big deal he connects a xbox to a tv with converters which would just deterriate video integrity. its not even that xbox connected to the tv when he tries to select a profile the tv is so off of his controller movement it isnt funny, he has a friend with a real xbox connected to the moniter and is yelling when to press what button so it looks like hes doing it, hence the music so you cant hear him talking to him. not proof at all

theres a good 3-5 second delay in between when he turns the 360 on from when he turns the tv on. it isnt until after turning the tv on do we see the xbox welcome screen...

I think this will be like someone said before, Xbox 360 v2 or something along them lines. It 'll just have a bigger HD which i rekkon they'll release to buy as an addon, and have an HDMI port, not much difference really! only advantage would be the the new audio surround system formats, yes its digital compared to analoge component or VGA but over a 1 to 2 meter cable don't make that much difference and there all HD and can do 1080p with the exception of component.
why is it fake u ask? well look at this, why is he using a hdmi > dvi adapter instead of straight thru hdmi? obviously he wouldnt need that unless he wanted to use hdmi without hdcp, the user most likely soldered an hdmi port of some sort from the vga output on the board thus making it look hdmi when its really just a workaround vga port, sending a signal most likely thru a dvi-a cable. anyone get what im saying?

Well, I have to go back to what I said originally, this is fake, thanks for pointing out the stuff you said "DUFF". I originally was a fooled, but you're right, when he presses the buttons there's a delay on the screen, one time he even presses down on the d-pad and there's no response on the screen, but then he presses it again and it responds. Not to mention, the fact that he has Premium Xbox 360, why is he using a wired controller. And it got me thinkin, if he was using a wireless controller it would be harder to cut out his friend hitting the buttons for him on the real Xbox we can't see. Good try though! This is fake!!!

I was going to post this same comment Im glad someone else out there understands this stuff. Its an hdmi to dvi convert. HDMI is nothing more than an "updated" USB port.
I meant to say that HDMI is an updated VGA cable. They both contain R,G,B,Horizonta l, and vertical wires. This video doesnt confirm anything

If it was a newer plasma screen HDTV he would have just had to use a straight HDMI cable, no converter...

I think this is real, he shows you the cable from the 360 into the lcd screen, although i do admit bootup was strange but if its V2 it will be different to a V1.
It seems weird the penguin is hiding something and the green pillow behind the tv they're obviously hiding something.
A dev kit always takes a while to boot, that's why it takes longer than with a retail 360.

*IF* that Sony monitor is in fact a SDM-HX73 then a quick journey over to the sony website to get some details about that monitor came in handy. I'm no expert on monitors by any means. This is a logical guess as to which model he has. It could be a SDM-HX75 for all I know, but anyway...

and downloaded the quick setup quide for the SDM-HX73 so I could catch a detailed glimpse of the inputs on this monitor. And I found what I was looking for on page 3.
What I found was this monitor has 3 inputs and if you are facing the rear of the monitor they are laid out as follows:
(left) HD-15 - (center) HD-15 - (right) DVI-D [hmm, interestingly enough, this is the one he's hooked up to].
You guys make you own judgements. This monitor has no other inputs hidden from view by Tux, or the mysterious green pillow unless the monitor has been hacked.
I don't care if he does has a DVI output on his 360. My component cable works just fine on my 1080p 56".

why would he need to even use a monitor? im pretty sure he has a hdmi capable tv otherwise i dont see the point in him having a hdmi capable xbox, when he can just use the dvi adapter with the vga. hes obviously avoiding using hdmi because being a fake hdmi port it doesnt have hdcp on it. hes just using a soldered hdmi that taps into the xbox's vga points and sending it thru dvi to the monitor, had i a solder gun and a hdmi socket i could do the same. hes sending vga analog over that hdmi port.

Even when Zephyr is released...it wont compete against the PS3,as the PS3 already have the Advantage of Blu-ray internally...it also proves the Info that [the current 360 cannot output Digital signals] thats why they had to redesign the motherboard to allow HDMI in this Version...meaning MS cannot release An Adapter for HDMI on the Current 360 Version...
This Version will retail for no Less than 400$...by the End of the Year...the Second Sku PS3 version will probably drop from 500$ to 400$..

Second, 1080i vs 1080p?? There is no difference. I have two 1080p tv's in my house and no one can see a damn differences between the two formats. Timewarner dosen't even broadcast in anything over 720p so that really makes everything void. And no one is buying HD-DVD or Blu Ray until one of them crumbles. So seriously dude, go get laid. thats sort of the truth, but i dont care bout all of this. my 360 broke with that 3 lights of red junk so i got a 60gb ps3 forchristmas and a wii after chrsitmas. 360 will not live from the console wars. even if this is released know why? because there are all ready alot of people with 360's and they are going to have to spend X amount of money.
This news just show that Sony was right and the X360 is an outdated hardware (already). If Microsoft put that version on the market they will show to every gamers that it's better to buy a PS3 because it as everything and a blu-ray DVD. And don't tell me the games will be better on X360 hell no!

Provide a quote or shut up please. MS never said any such thing. They insisted DVD was sufficient for next-gen gaming and have been keen supporters of HD-DVD, hence the add-on for the 360 for movies, not games. BTW, the best quality movies are using Microsoft's VC1 codex on HD-DVD, which is why HD-DVD movies tend to beat current Blu-ray movies (MPEG2) in independent quality tests. This codex is also included in the Blu-ray spec and therefore should soon be seen in Blu-ray movies in future, bringing it's quality up to that of HD-DVD.

MS never ruled out HDMI, they simply said it was too expensive at the time (the 360 would have been more expensive). That's why the 20GB PS3 was not going to feature HDMI, but with the delay to November, they were able to include it.

the 3-5 second delay was caused by the screen being in the wrong video mode. if you watch it on the top left there is a little box indicating the new video mode selection.

Some of these arguements are so stupid it makes you wonder how many of these guys will make it out of high school without dropping out. Instead of staying on the top, I see "360 can do this" "Sony does this better" etc etc. Well, I guess I must be reading from different IGN's, different Game Spots, different magazines. Pretty much up to this point, the 360 has been stated from all of those sourcesthat the 360 out performs the PS3, has games that look & run better than the PS3, has better scaling than the PS3, the backwards compatible game are not as gimped as they are on the PS3 & so forth. The 360 pretty much beat it in every area except for the fact that the PS3 has the built in Blu Ray Player. A good thing but even that had some cons to go with it. The speed of the drive itself was slower & has a lower tranfer rate than the 360's DVD Drive. The PS3 will sell cus of the massive support of games it will get, even if id did lost that stronghold grip it once had. The Xbox 360 will continue selling cus of quality of the console & the massive support it gets from PC developers. The whole PS3 being better needs to stop cus unless you are a complete idiot, up to this point, it is not at all.
We have NO idea how much a new model PS3 will const because Sony have yet to announce it. And you have to be REALLY stupid to think Sony will add so much technology into it that it will cost $2500.
So, you're saying that Sony will not release an upgraded PS3 in future with improved internal components, a larger HDD as standard and perhap a few changes, maybe to the ports? So you think they can not introduce this at $599 whilst reducing the cost of current PS3s?

If you posted those same comments on the PS3 board I may still challenge it, but I wouldn't feel the same about it as I do here, especially if it was in response to a 360 fanboy.
You can have as much fun as you want with the 360 there because it's the PS3 board. That's why when I'm there, I usually take your comments in good spirits.
However, it's one thing to say what you said on the PS3 board, but it's another thing to come onto the 360 boards and say it, since it serves no purpose but to stir up arguements. That's fanboy behaviour at it's worse, and I've never enjoyed seeing whichever 'side' it comes from. xbox 360s have detachable hardrive and ps3s dont. so if ps3 gamers want more memory they cant have it.

ok you sold your ps3 because you dont have any patience for the non-release games (or you just made up that fact to gain a better arguement perspective...) your pretty retarded in general... overpriced/grapics suck? your going to be one of those guys who shell out another 500 on this system and still think you have gotten a better deal than the ps3 (400+500+900) as for the 1080i vs 1080p... both r the same resolutions, but 1080p has 60fps and 1080i has 30... so although they have the same pic, 1080p is 2x cleaner. your probably viewing both of them on 480. AS for the blu-ray vs HD-dvd... its not all about movies. The ps3's games are on blu-rays, meaning that the ps3 has 50gb capacity while the 360/zyphyr will only have 8.5gb capacity for games.
Sony made it possible to upgrade the PS3 with any PC Notebook hard drive. I swapped my 20 gig for a 150 gig. Man before you start running at the mouth learn about the system you are dissing.
To the best of my knowledge, a parallel situation happened with the original xBox and the PS2.
The PS2 came out of the box with DVD playback, the xBox needed the remote. But this had one advantage for the xBox: a tiny price cut. Microsoft have made a games console, and if you want to use it to watch HD-DVDs as a DVD player, you can buy the addon; and for those who don't, you don't have to pay the extra money for something you're not going to use.
And will TV's stop incorporating VGA in the lifespan of these consoles? I don't think so. Most computers work though VGA, and in a world where nearly every household in the modernised world has one, does it not make sense to leave it. Many people nowadays choose to output there PC through there HDTVs, as it saves buying a monitor, when there's already a perfectly good (and usually large enough) screen available.
And to be honest, who cares. If Zephyr is real, and comes out, what's going to be the big bonus? As previously mentioned, if a larger HDD surfaces, it would make sense for it to be compatible with the 360, otherwise they are isolating all the previous 360 sales, which would be biting the economic bullet. So a new console revision surfaces, and all it is offering us is a new way to connect to our TV's, which we can already do. You'll still be able to play your games on both...
Might make "original" 360's cheaper...woo again.

i have 360 and a ps3 and their both the same graphics wise, i could care less about memory, watever fgt ports, watever size n wires. their the same, not that much better than the previous versions of the consoles either, i was expecting dramatic improvements but i see only alittle.

ps3 has detachable and upto 800gig hard drives the 360 has 14 gig max. I got a 360 and my hdtv dont have component no new hdtv does its old technology so only older tvs have it. This is fake you can easily manufacter a corssover from the output port with a bit of knowledge plus my 360 takes 3 seconds to start that took 8 seconds that seems a bit fishy TBH I would be pissed if they remade the 360 after just buying one I would be pissed! plus MS would probably get sued claiming my system would be good enough for at least 5 years. They can remodel maybe add a bigger external hard drive which older systems can use but upgrading the cpu would get them sued as it would leave older gamers not being able to play the latest games.
I doubt they would do this if they really wanted to match ps3 they would have made the hd/dvd drive play games forcing ppl to upgrade to that. They need a bigger hd for all the new movie download service as 14 gig aint enough and they know this. Bigger hard drives was an obvious step forward and we all knew they were coming.. A DVI adapter would be wonderous! but having to buy a new console for it would make me bust my 360 cash in on a newer model for free lol.

The funniest thing about fantards, is that they quote all these numbers, but really dont have a clue. They Probably has a westing house LCD or some other crap TV.
Any videophile knows that if your tv has a good deinterlacer, and is 1080p capable. That there is no real difference between 1080i and 1080p. My Sony SXRD deinterlaces 1080i to 1080p and displayes 1080p better than cheap LCDs that support the native 1080p input.
This new version is not screwing any owners, you got what you paid for. If this model sees the light of day, im sure it will be around 600 ish dollars.

Do some reasearch please before posting. The PS3 hard drive is swapable out of the box with standard IDE drives.
