What Happens When You Drop Your 360

I'm still in shock. All I know is that I may be really unlucky after what just happened, or just regularly unlucky. I don't know yet because I haven't encountered any severe problems with my Xbox 360 console after accidentally knocking it off a 1m high table while playing FIFA World Cup.

The first thing I thought was "NO! NO! I HAVE TO GO BACK IN TIME!". Unfortunately I don't have that power so the second thing that came into my mind was something like "What's that weird sound?". Apparently that sound was the disc reader making a thick hole/scratch across my disc:

I knew that game was lost because it just crashed every time I started it up, and I should just call EA about it and get a new copy or something, until I saw my faceplate. As you can see the bottom pretty much broke and the slot for USB cables doesn't fit anymore. I instantly ordered two new faceplates after that (the cheap and probably crappy ones from Joytech), with the money that was supposed to go to my iPod fund (yes, I don't have an iPod).

Sniff..

Please pray for me that I won't have any more problems with my console than this! I love my 360 and I don't want to lose it! Have any of you had near-death 360 experiences? Be sure to tell us about them in the comments!

The dvd tray was open and I was downloading something and i decided to open the window in my room cause it was getting hot. i tripped over the a/v cable and the 360 crashed into my wall and then the floor. i almost cried and also wished i could of went back in time too. turns out dvd tray actually fell out completely leaving a hole in the from of my drive and the a/v cable housing in the back completely fell apart... after a few minutes filled with anxiety i finally got the dvd tray back in and just swapped the a/v cables and returned the broken one.

Ouch, #6 and #7's stories sound painful! I did that once to my PC. Had the tower at the foot of my bed. Opened the tray by accident and didn't realise. When i got off my bed, the first thing i did was swing my legs to the floor and guess what, my foot lands on the DVD tray snapping it right off. :( .I got it replaced for free tho so :)

Anyway, in the middle of GRAW this morning, my screen effs up. Literally half of the lines shift right while the other half stay still. I reboot my console only to find the 3 red lights of doom. Not wanting to open the case to mod/cool the GPU myself, i took it back to the store. The guys there were decent enough to give me a free brand new premium pack and let me keep my old HDD as well!

Needless to say, crisis averted. I'm back online and all is well.

I was playing fight night round 3 and my sister suddenly drop the xbox... the xbox didn't have anything but my fight night does not read!!! Now i need to buy another one...

Someone in my house (usually me or my cuz) has dropped every console I have ever owned. And its always cuz of that dam cord. Thats why I bought all 4 cordless controllers. I love my XBox so i try to touch it as little as possible. My main beef is with the game cover distributors. Those dam green cases are sometimes to stuck to the cd and after repeatedly takin out and putting back in the case my Call of Duty game has some cracks near the midle circle. It sux cuz now it doesnt read the disc sometimes and during online play a map wont load. I hate those dam green covers. I would rather have a slip pocket. Do u think i could do anything about this. Like get another copy from the company if i send in mine.

The xbox literlly did a 360 spin and hit the hard wall and well to the tile ground.

CALL OF DUTY 2 WASN'T EVEN SCRATCHED AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE XBOX. On the other hand the xbox chipped a chunk out of the wall and cracked the tile.

I keep my XBOX 360 in my entertainment center with a brushless cooling fan mounted to the back to pull cool air through. There's no chance of breakage or overheating and it doesn't get near as dusty. Don't use the XBOX 360 vertically! It's super easy to knock it over and almost totally blocks the main cooling inlet. People ripping on the XBOX 360 need to get a life. There is no "best" console. They all have pros and cons and some suit some people better than others.

So what if its says 24/7 coverage.... all he is doing is taking news from other sites and posting about it here including the source from which is came. Its structured the SAME EXACT way, the Creator makes a post, and then makes another post, which then appears on top of the other, in that order so on and so on. ANd incase you didnt notice, the 24/7 coverage applies to not just the 360, and many of these blogs reach accross the sections listed at the top of the page...

iPods are awesome, im sick of all these audiophiles saying its crap. "no! you should by the pcp3100x or the 558383XXp2p733 or the brand new jibbajabba32x3dO" Whatever man, they all play mp3s, they all have massive storage. The ipod is smaller than other portable video/audio players, and has better integration with Itunes. No, i dont care what 3rd party software you are using which is "totally better than itunes", itunes works fine.

Bottom line: I can put all of my music on an ipod, and have it fit very nicely in my jeans pocket. Dont hate.

I damaged my copy of Battlefield worse than that, I had a ring around the outside and the middle, but i repaired it. Turtle wax for a car and a applicator pad was all i needed. give it a try.The game works 100%.

The game data is closer to the label side of DVDs and the shiny plastic side is a protective layer. It took all of about five minutes to do and the rings are no longer visible any more. That ring is actually not a scratch, more of an scuff mark. You have nothing to lose give it a try.

Second I would like to respond to all the Sony fanboys and state that I bought an xbox360 because the original xbox was an amazing piece of hardware. Homebrew Mods made it great, much better than the PS2.

My psp that I looked forward to since hearing about it was a piece of junk,and they lied about the specs(processor speed ex.), and the games never attained ps2 quality. Sony let us down with this and I do believe the ps3 will unimpress us when it comes out as well. This is based on all the crap we have been hearing about recently, and the fact that they merely think that anything with a sony label on it makes it better. They have lost touch with the consumer, and want to use the Ps3 to push the bluray player at all costs.

I in the end will definitely buy the winning console of choice if its no the 360, to go with my 52 inch Hdtv, but must state I will have been gaming in Hd for a year more than sony fanboys.

Its all about the culture - be it for Xbox, Nintendo, Sony, Apple, etc. Go to ANY (and I mean ANY) other gaming news site and they will have similar stories that aren't news, but are off-topic, funny, or just a tale to tell about their experience and thoughts regarding a specific console. Its called personality, some of you folks should consider developing one.

I keep hearing how people will buy two consoles in any possible configuration, but am curious as too if this is a realistic approach to maximizing peoples gaming needs. The new generation of gaming systems will be much higher priced then the last and don't see this as possible for most. I see some people suffering with less games if they wish to own more then one system.

What I am wondering is if people would respond back with their average paycheck amounts to see if peoples gaming eagerness is achievable( two systems or more).Or if this is an unreal expectation from Microsoft,ninte ndo, and Sony.

I get paid very well and would like to focus on one system, though I realize gaming genres are not prized on all platforms, this would maximizes my gaming Funds.

For the record I work at Ford Motor Company and bring in an average of $73000 cdn a year, roughly $900 a week. I am not willing to waste money on redundant systems, but are you?

If you can't afford a new game and a faceplate without needing to complain to the world about it, then you don't deserve to own an expensive device like this!

I can only hope you have a core system with wired controllers or you'd probably be complaining about the hard drive not working either, not to mention its about impossible to knock over a system with wireless controllers. Maybe getting one would be a wise investment for when you feel your epilectic seizures or fits of rage coming on.

Yeah i have a door jam problem on my xbox 360. it still works though i use a hair pin to pry it open. the eject button opens the tray fine, but when i need to get the disk out it jamms. I'm just waiting for it to finally give out before i buy a new one.

Here some advice don't move the console for travel. Some how during packing up my xbox 360 to play at friends house door got out of alignment. Microsoft charges 80.00 to fix it if you don't have warranty. In another 6 months the console will be down to 260.00 with rebates and i'll buy a new one.

I'm thinking about just using the old one for a juke box hooked up to my computer since i have an ipod. Great disco light themes on the music player screen.

Dude same thing happend i knocked it over while playing codmw2 ruined the game and now the consolw thinks that all the games are dvds it was also connected to my macbook and that fell and broke a hinge. I think microsoft is fixing the xbox for free they replaced the game for free and i might have to pay 50 bucks to fix my computer
