Vin Diesel as Agent 47 in Hitman: Blood Money Adaptation |
Listed in: Xbox 360 Tags: Eidos Interactive, IO Interactive, Vin Diesel
Ó

After getting word that Vin Diesel is going to be playing Agent 47 in Eidos and IO Interactive's stealth-action game Hitman: Blood Money, just for kicks, we racked my brain for another possible actor to play the mighty assassin, but our efforts were in vain.
Diesel will not only star but also executive-produce "Hitman" for 20th Century Fox, while Charles Gordon and Adrian Askarieh will act as producers. But of course everyone - gamers and moviegoers alike - are all anticipating who's going to write the screenplay. The answer is Skip Woods of Swordfish (the one where Halle Berry bared it all) fame.
According to Latino Review, it stayed true to the game's original intent of making us in awe of our seemingly invincible anti-hero. Since the website apparently had some previous run-ins with 20th Century Fox, they were very scarce when it came to giving out details about the film. To best describe the script, I'd have to borrow El Mayimbe's words, "Hitman has balls and the violence is cold and brutal." The movie is set to be released in 2007.

Yea, Vin Diesel really isn't the best choice for the role, what with him being so... well, he's "too much" of something for the role. You guys know what I mean? I can't think of the right word at the moment, but yea, he's too much for it.
However, I think I'd have to agree (ONLY SLIGHTLY) to the choice of a different actor. We've seen Statham in roles similar to 47 (ie the transporter). It's not quite the same, but you can definitely see the similarity. I think to avoid making another movie that looked like The Italian Job or The Transporter, even though those are freakin' awesome movies IMO, the studio made the right decision not to use him (but only to that aspect).
Yes, it's pretty safe to say that he would've made a better 47, but the box office/general public probably would've dismissed the movie as yet another action movie with him as a main character. It definitely would've been a hit with the gamers and the Statham fans, but to the rest of the world, it probably wouldn't have been a great choice.
Just a possibility as to why there was no mention of him. I don't know if they didn't consider him or if he turned down the job or whatnot. Sometimes I wonder why certain actors are chosen for the roles they play...
