Project Gotham Racing 4 developed by Bizarre Creations under Microsoft's banner is the fifth in the franchise after a mobile spin-off was released recently. It's an ambitious project to say the least but it has the makings of a great title. Have a look and find out why:

This is a gameplay footage taken in a straightaway. Notice that the graphics are very detailed and the frame rate provides a palpable sensation of velocity. It's a short vid, but enjoyable nonetheless.

One thing that the developers are trumpeting which wasn't too evident in the video above is the variable weather conditioning in the game. It affects not only the visuals but also how your racer handles as the physics change dramatically in sun, rain and snow. Another nice touch is the fact that Xbox Live allows you to download reports from the Weather Channel to match the in-game conditions to what's happening outside.

.

I like the weather channel bit. I haven't read a lot on this game, but when I saw that it had weather effects I was afraid that they had done something similar to other racing games where you have one track that's always in the rain, one track that's always in the snow, one track that's always wet but not raining...and that would be the weather effects. I'm glad to know that each track can truly change in that respect.
