As the release date of Enchanted Arms draws nearer and nearer, the marketing department of the the first Japanese RPG for the Xbox 360 has been stepping up the pace and is doing everything it could to whet every gamer's appetite.

One of the features that this game would like to introduce would be its battle system. As shown in the video clip, Enchanted Arms will make use of a grid-based combat system that will place heavy importance on the positioning of every member of your party. Different views of the battle will also allow one to carefully judge the trend of a battle, while a flexible party order system lets you dictate the process of how exactly you would like to cripple your enemies.

Slightly reminiscent of Final Fantasy games, location-based attacks are also introduced, so yes, flanking your enemy now has visible effects, and we're not just talking about your character's animation anymore. The Enchanted Arms team has also added the feature "auto battle" and fast forward, in case you can't wait for the next move you want to execute.

Other features would be the ability to perform combo attacks with your party members, thus allowing for some very interesting mixing and matching, as well as "Ex Skills", which we are guessing would be the equivalent of the Limit Break (the game that I grew up with is getting obvious, isn't it?).

Mere description won't do the trick though, so just watch the video instead and see how you'll like it.

ok

I've played the Japanese version of this game and it is horrible. The battle system is garbage but the storyline is even worse (not to mention the constant random battles about every 5 steps). I can't wait when all the little fanboys get disappointed. Xbox 360 will never get a good Japanese RPG game.

It will have a small market

While "eww" may not have liked the game, i personally got a kick out of it. Just take the "Legend of Legaia" series, and add in the tactics system of "La Pucelle: Tactics" (or any other tactics rpg for that instance), and you'll have what is fairly close to this game. Sure, the story may be watered down. Depending on how many RPG's you've played, you may be embarassed as to what they're trying to sell you. As i mentioned above, the game (to me), feels a lot like "Legend of Legaia", not only for it's story, but for it's combo game-play (the battle system isn't exactly the same however). If you liked the story in that game, (or even "Legend of Dragoon"), you MAY like this game. In the end, no one will be calling this a "ground-breaking, genre-making, must-buy game for all ages". Fact is, the game is only sub-par in relation to other games in it's genre, and will only sell due it's it's "exclusivity" to the 360 market. 7.1/10.
