The America's Army line of FPS games in the last gaming cycle created quite a stir when everyone found out that the US Army was openly involved in the creation of such a title. What would have anti-game activists said if they were as critical back then as they are today?

In any case, it'll be interesting to see if they'll have anything to say about this one when the next-generation iteration titled America's Army: True Soldier comes around for the Microsoft Xbox 360. We've got our first look at the actual gameplay and it looks like it'll be fun. Check it out:

The last America's Army titles were tactical FPS games that had you creating a special forces operative of your choice participating in the most dangerous combat missions around the world. This sequel is looking to share a lot of those elements. Details are a little hard to come by right now, but we'll fill you in as soon as new word is forthcoming.

Now this is GRAW 2. The real GRAW 2 in my eyes was GRAW 1.5.

I wonder what the army are getting up to in the missions. Wonder if its anything to do with the taliban.

» a new low, recruiting via video game

This game should show how the US government screws over its soldiers by extending enlistment contracts without consent, denying wounded war veterans health care, and basically using soliders as profit tools for the Bush administration and military contractors. Is that going to be featured in the game?

I'm sure it will have glorified heroic combat that makes it seem fun. They will need to downplay the chances of getting killed or seeing your friends die. Maybe you can hook up a printer and print up the recruitment forms right on the console.

Of all the violent games out there, why the hell don't any anti-video game legislators have any problem with games like this? I mean, if they are going to complain that a game encourages violence, wouldn't this one be it? Yeah, it's ok to hate and kill people labeled as terrorists in other countries, but fictional over the top violence is just evil right?
