Sad moogles...If you've been doing some very dubious things in Final Fantasy XI recently, don't be surprised to find yourself unable to play. Square Enix staff have shut down close to 7,500 accounts and suspended 250 more for violating the terms of the Final Fantasy XI agreement.

The GM staff counted 4800 cases of third-party tool usage, 4400 of which were used to get ahead of other players in hunting down notorious monsters. They also noted 2800 cases of people engaged in trading cash for gil or previously banned people attempting to sign up again, as well as some cases of gamers trying less than scrupulous ways to get better items.

An estimated 6.2 billion gil was confiscated in the process, as well as plenty of man hours used to get that much gil in thge first place. The GM staff can expect 7,000 appeals when they come to work today though, so for the straight players out there, don't give those guys any grief today, alright?

» what a dummy

Ofcourse this effects us stupid. PC PS2 and 360 all play on the same server. 360 players are effected when ppl on PC or hackers use the tools to cheat in teh game, and ruin it for everyone else. Every player is efefcetd by Gil selling. Everyone is effected when players hack items. Its a player supported economy.

So YOU dont give us news we dont need.

» when they started doing this...

It changed the game alot.

I down know about alot of you, but before the Xbox360 version was out, you could never ever hunt a NM monster that dropped good armor because it was over camped 24/7.

I would log into the game and every day no matter what time of the day, would be the same alliance camping in a NM spawn.

Not to mention I only started playing again in Feb 07 after quiting and the prices on everything was rediculous. I was almost at the point where I didnt want to play anymore because if you dont have money, you dont have weapons and armor, and without those, no one wants to party with you.

Its changed alot since the Xbox360 version was released, they banned alot of accounts and billions of gil were removed from the game. They are making it easier for new players to get into the game and they have dont a great job.

This affects all consoles the game is played on since Xbox360 players who are new will probably be really un-interested in a game where you have to spend a month getting money for items in the game.

» I don't understand MMRPGs

You people just have way too much time on your hands. I had enough Final Fantasy after finishing VIII on PS1 and I had over 80 hours invested with side quests. The game is fun but takes way too much time.
