Valve re-submitted edited Left 4 Dead 2 for OFLC appeal |
Ó
It's not murder. It's self-defense.
Newell further revealed the steps they are taking to ensure that their undeads will land on Australian shores. For one, they have submitted an edited version of the game via the standard classification process. With this OFLC-friendly version, they should be able to get an MA15+ rating.
We think Left 4 Dead 2 is a lot of fun. It's a game for adults. But we're aware that different countries have different restrictions, and we want to make the choices that make the game the most fun for that country.
The Board's decision on the edited version is expected out today. There lingers threat, however, of Valve missing the global launch of the game, given that the Board will be reconvening for the appeal only on the 22nd of October. If OFLC does approve, however, then the Australian version of the game will just receive an update. Most definitely, it's free for PC, but not sure yet about the Xbox 360 version.
Newell firmly maintains, though, that the edited version they submitted is just a "back-up" plan just in case something goes wrong, ie. failed appeal or delayed approval. "Our goal is not to ship this second version," he clarified.
As to what parts of the content were edited, we have no idea what they tweaked to make it more acceptable for OFLC. They do promise to keep everyone updated, though, so we're looking forward to that.
