Valve confirms new DLC for Left 4 Dead |
Ó

The folks at Valve weren't just pulling the collective leg of Left 4 Dead fans when they said they still had something special in store for the game in the wake of the sequel's announcement. That special something will come in the form of the new Crash Course L4D update being targeted for release in September.
Crash Course will contain maps for the game's Cooperative, Survival, and Versus multiplayer modes along with various gameplay tweaks. The new campaign will take place between the No Mercy and Death Toll campaigns. Theres also new locations, new dialogue, and what's described as "an explosive finale."
Pricing is where it gets a bit rough. PC owners will be able to download the update for free, but Xbox 360 gamers will have to shell out 560 MS Points for it. Valve has a reputation of releasing free game updates but Microsoft, on the other hand, has repeatedly been accused of being less open to letting free content be made available on the Marketplace.

Most people, including myself, saw the announcement and traded the game in.
I already have to pay just to play online or talk in a party, this should be free for the xbox 360. It's not like Microsoft is bankrupt.
this is why valve needs to work on the ps3. Sony would allow the free stuff and then Microsoft would be forced to do the same. Just look at Burnout Paradise.
"Microsoft, on the other hand, has repeatedly been accused of being less open to letting free content be made available on the Marketplace." Another reason I'm a happy PS3 owner, what is this now, reason 10001?
Nothing is free. Sony just makes developers pick up the bandwidth costs for distribution over the PSN, while 360 is user side pricing. Valve will probably get 'free' release of the update through various mirror sites and such for the PC. So what you're really asking is for MS to foot the bill while sony bills the companies releasing the content, and PC games tend to have the bills distributed across various servers and companies. Dont be ignorant. It makes you look worse than you already do.
I didn't think someone would be stupid enough to actually defend this. By you argument it cost 560 ms points ( i don't know how much that is in human money)for server costs per download so they must be close to bankrupt if their giving that much away through demos. Last I checked you pay 40 bucks a year for Xbox Live. How bout using some of that money for these servers. Even the most hardcore fanboy would not argue that microsoft is in the right here. Free content is free content. If Sony was gonna charge them so much money then they wouldn't make it free.
The new DLC is called Left For Dead 2: Forget L4D1.
Actually it's $50 bucks a year and lets not forget how much money Microsoft has compared to Sony. They could easily afford to make a much better service for free, but they don't cause there so damn cheap.
