People can find a lot of things on eBay: rare and useful items, insanely overpriced gadgets, crazy people things, and even Halo 4. Now before you become giddy over this, we would like to remind you that you just passed by a gigantic RUMOR sign on your way here.We came across a listing on eBay, the online auction site. The auction involves a chance to have a voice-over cameo in the upcoming game Halo 3. The bidding began at US$ 1,000 and is currently at US$ 1,025. It will end on February 24.
Also, the owner of the listing mentioned that 100% of the final sale price will be donated to Hollywood Arts, an NGO which reaches out to homeless youth in Los Angeles through arts. As for where Halo 4 fits in:
The ultimate coolnessÂ…your voice, as a character, in one the most played video games everÂ…imagine it!! Be a part of history! Voiceover will be recorded at Blindlight Studios in Hollywood, CA before May 15, 2007 or this package will have to redeemed for Halo 4. Winner is responsible for transportation and accommodations to and from Hollywood, CA.
As always, until more concrete things come up, we should all take this with a grain of salt.
Update: Bungie just updated its official website and it turns out, the eBay auction for the voice-over cameo is legit. It reiterated, however, that the Halo 4 reference is nothing more than "a sad clunker of a gag." Lastly, Bungie would like everyone to note that Hollywood Arts is running the auction and not them.
