*Update* Forza Motorsport 2 demo coming out tonight? |
Ó
Word's been flying pretty fast over the forums for Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 2. A forum member by the name Che has claimed that the demo date for the Xbox 360 racing title is already known, and that fans may, in fact, get it as soon as tonight or tomorrow.According to his post, "Demo is definitely hitting tonight -- but it'll be pretty painful for east coasters. Trying to pin down an exact time." As of press time, there has yet to be an update regarding the specifics of the arrival of the demo, but it's definitely fired up lumbering fans.
But some speculates that the demo will come before the official announcement so as to give sufficient time for those patient enough to actually wait on stand by for them to download the demo before the traffic rush hits. Well, we certainly hope the video game's demo gets here sooner. But don't worry, we'll be sure to keep you updated on this one. You can bet we'll be up all night waiting for the Forza Motorsport 2 demo along with you all.
The QJ team just checked back with our Xbox 360, and lo and behold! The Forza Motorsport 2 demo is finally here! To those of you who waited the night, your patience have been duly rewarded. Now, it's time for the download to get some real hands-on on this game.
We'll be sure to get back to you on our feedback of Forza 2, most probably in a review. So keep it locked here and have fun with the demo!

There is also the following message showing under Major Nelson's Twitter:
Forza 2 Demo will be released at 0200 PT
Nice!
Demo is out!!!!!
Go get it, seems to be a worldwide release...
It's gonna be sooo much better than Gran Turismo 5, which is still the same game as GT2 on PS1 with better graphics.
I was able to download it before work (only took about 20 minutes - it was a 600-700mb file) and race a few laps.
First impressions: The graphics aren't quite as polished as I'd hoped they'd be, but from what I hear from the pitpass reports is that the graphics are constantly being fine tuned until it goes gold.
The physics are still dead on. One thing I absolutely LOVE is the real time readouts of certain characteristics of the cars behavior (tire friction/heat/etc. etc.) WHILE you are driving. No more having to wait for the replay. You can now superimpose all that information in real time so you can adjust your driving. Excellent addition in my book.
Also, the sound still seems really good. I thought it was great in Forza 1, and this one does seem to raise the bar a bit, but my sound system is now 6 years old so I might not be able to pick up all the nuances.
The demo does work with the wheel...and those of you that bought it will be glad you did. It behaves much smoother than in PGR3, and while it'll still take some getting used to, I certainly prefer it.
Overall, the demo is really solid. So far I'd give it an 9/10
YES AT LAST... WHAT A GAME...
Thanks for this quick overview/review.
It's funking awesome.
Yes it needs more polished. Remember it's a demo.
AFTER WAITING MONTHS IN ANTICIPATION FOR WHAT WAS PROMISED TO BE A "GRAN TURISMO BEATER", I'VE JUST DOWNLOADED THE FORZA 2 DEMO.
I'VE GOTTA SAY I'M VERY DISSAPOINTED! JAGGIES GALORE, NO MOTION BLUR OR SENSE OF SPEED, NON EXISTANT SMOKE/DUST EFFECTS, NO LIGHTING EFFECTS, EVEN THE SHADOWS HAD JAGGED EDGES! OK SO IT'S RUNNING AT 60FPS AT 1080I, BUT I'D RATHER PLAY A PHOTO REALISTIC GAME RUNNING AT 30FPS. (I MEAN ANY MOVIES NOWADAYS ARE RECORDED AT JUST 25FPS AND YOU CAN'T GET ANY MORE REALISTIC)
I'D RATHER DUST OFF MY PS2 AND PLAY GRAN TURISMO 4 AND WAIT FOR PGR4 BEFORE PARTING WITH £50 FOR THAT DROOL.
Yes, your right about Forza 2 being superior to GT5. You rock qj, what is your Xbox live gamer tag? mines is kilacam36
Mister Common Sense, what is your 360 gamertag I wanna add you to my friends list.
this game is a disappointment. lol no game will be better than GT
i agree code2006 ^ this game is a disappointment..
Wow very disappointing. Can't do a burn or spin on the start. Graphic are not as good as I thought !!
Boring. I hope its a early early build
I spent three hours downloading this (wtf marketplace, this should take 30 mins for me tops, Double Dragon also took 30 mins and it's 24 MB) only to be disappointed. Graphics are not NEARLY what they said they would be, and now that the game has gone gold I don't think it's going to change much. Handling feels really poor, maybe I just suck at racing games but I have to bring my car to a near stop to get around the first turn of the course , no amount of braking lets me go around it smooth without crashing into the wall with an RC2 car or whatever, the McLaren
You don't understand. The hot dog shoots lasers from it's eyes
"I MEAN ANY MOVIES NOWADAYS ARE RECORDED AT JUST 25FPS AND YOU CAN'T GET ANY MORE REALISTIC"
are you in grade school or something? frame rate applies to video in an entirely different manner than it does to realtime rendered graphics. 60 fps is nice for games because most are "twitch" style where inputs have to be read and responded to in the shortest amount of time possible. obviously nothing meaningful to the player can be accomplished until the draw method is called each cycle. the number of times it does is your frame rate. higher is better.
movies are shot in 24p because it produces the soft look that film is famous for. video looks "fake" because it is interlaced + running @ 60hz. that fake look is what you want in a game (detail, contrast, sharp defined edges).
lower framerate is never better than a higher one, regardless of how shiny the cars are.
Easy the best driving game ever and this is just the demo!, the 64fps makes it amazingly smooth, no slowdown nothing its just amazing, I would give even the demo 10/10.
WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THE POSTERS STARTING WITH THE REALLY INTELLIGENT ONE WHO WROTE EVERYTHING IN CAPS LOCK LIKE THIS ARE PS3 OWNERS.
They really are sad arnt they, why dont they go wait for a decent driving game(about 3 years time) for the system they chose instead of trying to for some weird reason try to put people off a game because its not on their system?.
The demo is just amazing by the way 360 owners.
Amazing game, sadly the usual PS3 posters have arrived on here(starting with the One who wrote everything in caps lock look at what he said LMFAO) because yet another outstanding game has arrived for the 360 and they dont like it.
Really dissapointed lads. Gonna save my pennies and wait for PGR 4 - It's not a driving simulator but 10 x the fun in my opinion.
Why release what looks like a pre-beta demo a month before release? Very poor & embarrasing PR.
