A Ubisoft rep have confirmed that the game freezing issue of Splinter Cell: Conviction that a lot of faithful first-day Xbox purchasers encountered yesterday has now been resolved. According to a company rep:

The issue has been resolved, you should now be able to play without further problems. You can download the update now and be able to play the game without it freezing or needing to be unplugged from Xbox Live.

Reports of the game freezing bug spread like wild fire yesterday after many Xbox gamers that were connected to Xbox Live encountered the same problem while playing the second level of the game. A temporary fixed was then issued by Ubisoft by simply clearing the Xbox 360 system cache.

Glitches aside, the game is... terrible, the graphics are sub par, the writing is some of the worst video game writing i have ever heard, some random thug actually said and i quote "No more fun house Fisher" as he shot me, i couldnt stop laughing, and it kept getting worse as the game went on, and finally for a game being delayed like four times, it doesnt have that many modes, so from me i give it a 6/10
