No longer a stealth game, Splinter Cell: Conviction (for the PC and Xbox 360) has ex-Third Echelon agent Sam Fisher dashing through crowds and using his environment to evade detection and capture. In a franchise often defined by the tact, sleekness and precise surgical infiltration possible only with stealth, Conviction steers the game deeper into Sam Fisher's story.

Although latest installment to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series had little details as to what would Fisher be doing now, Ubisoft's Mathieu Ferland did state that the game would revolve around Sam Fisher's self-discovery and self-realization. So aside from adding more action instead of more thought into the game, you will also be getting more emotional now.

Ferland also noted that the game was "a big change in the devotion of the brand," which to most fans is practically the understatement of the year. Fans that started out with the first Splinter Cell and have tasted the likes of Eidos' Hitman series may find this game to be particularly lacking in something. Oh yes, we remember now: it lacks Splinter Cell.

They should have called it SC : Fugitive

would have made more sense. very much a Jason Bourne inspired character and story by the sounds of it

.

As I see more, I might actually like the new idea. It really changes the story up.

indeed

The Splinter Cell series was getting boring for me, this might spruce it up a bit.

QJ..

QJ how exactly does Conviction "Lack Splinter Cell" this time? Define what SC is. Multiple gadgets? If you think so, then you're nuts. SC has always been about the stealth, which seems to be an even bigger trait this time. Know what QJ articles lack? Thought.

So you want straight up action...

...instead of stealth and the need to think things through instead of heading straight into a brawl. Go right ahead. I think Hitman delivers that same content for you. You are particularly only pointing at Chaos Theory, which sported multiple gadgets to provide you multiple options of evasion. But seeing as you're only one guy amongst thousands who are enraged at DA and even Conviction, we don't even see you as an avid fan of the franchise. But until then, you're wanting to improving a franchise by stealing ideas from another one...typical mindset of the new "core" gamer. What a disappointment.

!

I can see assassins creed has influenced this gameplay - and stuff like dead rising.

...

The title Splinter Cell should be removed from this game splinter cell implies stealth, Infiltrate, complete objectives and extract without being noticed! A typical infiltration-objective-extraction special forces military tactic. Since the new game does not feature any military based action then the title is just misleading...

yup

yea there is still stealth in the game just not in the dark all the time. stealth does not mean just being in the dark
