Two players get the banhammer until year 9999 for playing Halo 3 too early |

Good things come to those who wait. Bad things land on the laps of those who just can't. This sad but mournfully true adage was once again proven by two Xbox 360 owners who were just a bit too eager to play Halo 3 Epsilon. And play they did, but not after logging onto Live first - which meant that practically everyone who knew of their gamertags could plainly see that they were enjoying the highly-anticipated sequel even before the retail version hit storeshelves.
And for it, they were banned from Xbox Live. Up to the year 9999. Certainly a long time for both players to sit and think about the consequences of their actions.
So, what really happened? As it turns out, both players had been messing around with illegal copies of Halo 3 Epsilon a day or so before they were hit with a rather large banhammer. The first player, dak Is back, was merely letting his console update Uno when all of a sudden, he was disconnected from Live. A couple of reconnection attempts later, he got the message saying that he was, indeed, banned from Live. The other player, Scar, also received a similar fate while trying to recover a profile.
While it seems that Microsoft and Bungie is being a bit heavy-handed on the punishments, violating the Terms of Usage is also quite the infraction. So remember, dear readers, if in doubt, remember the banhammer. Patience is a virtue for a reason.

Which is smart, because then you can't just make a new account, and yet it sucks because now that Xbox 360 can never play online again :)

What they did is the whole they know a guy who knows a guy etc etc thing, at the start of this is a guy who somehow got the Epsilon (legally), and two people told him they had a Project Gotham Racing 4 beta. They agreed to swap accounts, the guy with Epsilon would get to dl PGR4 beta and the guys with PGR4 beta would get Epsilon. Well, the guy with Epsilon gave is account info first, since I guess he was very eager to play a PGR4 beta that doesn't exist, and as soon as the guys got his info they just left him hanging and went to download the beta. They then proceeded to pass this guy's info out to a lot of people who were all banned for playing it (like someone below me said, more than two people got the OVER 9000 year ban), these guys mentioned in the story got it from someone who had the info and they say they didn't know it was stolen. That's pretty much it, and the two mentioned here say MS is thinking about lifting the ban.

In fairness to kids who just cant wait and do foolish things it would be a little less harsh if MS were to change their automated apps that register (misdeeds) and implemented an automatic 30 day ban from the time that the alarm was tripped.
I do not support MS in this ban to 9999 but i would be pissed at MS if they did nothing. I also want to play Halo 3 and would not like knowing that some are but I still have to wait.
As with everything on this site with regard to MS or Sony it becomes a pissing match. Who can piss further or in this particular case it has become downright rascist. I dont give a ***** what colour you are. If your wrists are slit we all bleed the same colour red.
And people do not bother to reply as after one month in this site I will after this post remove al links to this area as it is a site I will no longer visit.
Most of the comments here do nothing to promote gaming or to make my life more interesting. When there is so much fun to be had with the games available regardless of your platform choice I find it tedious that every posted article becomes a playground for wankers from both consoles.

The individuals in question agreed to Microsoft's terms of conduct when they joined xbox live, or if they were company representatives as some have suggested, they signed a more comprehensive and indepth contract. Either way, they were clearly in violation in regards to their xbox live subscription, and Microsoft is legally entitled to void their contract and is not legally bound to provide them with service.
