Happy Emergence Day, ladies and gents! If you haven't heard the news from Major Nelson, today, until 11:59 p.m. PT, you can grab special Emergence Day content from Xbox Live. What's available? An exclusive Gears of War "I played on Emergence Day" Gamerpic (free!) and an exclusive Gears of War "I played on Emergence Day" theme (also free!).

Canadians rejoice! This offer is available for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Live Silver members in the US, in Canada, and in Mexico.

love is a many-splendored thing

In other news, experienced gamers are breezing through GoW in less than 12 hours. Demands for a sequel are already starting to come in. Come on, people, let Cliff "CliffyB" Bleszinski have his well-deserved vacation.

If you really are looking for something to do, you can play the game as Marcus Fenix's hunky studmuffin friend. If you do that, you get this "Brokeback Sera" achievement:
  • I Can't Quit You Dom (30 points) Complete all acts in co-op as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty.
And how's the multiplayer so far? See, we told you it wasn't your usual run-around-and-shoot (well, the noobs are still doing that, asides from going to jail for beating up kids). It's really got plenty of the turning around corner and jumping for cover and strategy, doesn't it? And you can try for these:
  • The Nuge (20 points) Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with the Torque Bow.
  • Seriously (50 points) Kill 10,000 people in versus ranked match total.

How to get the U.S.A content

You can get the USA content even if you live outside the U.S eg U.K (like me). What you have to do is create another gamertag (sign out and create one). Then follow the steps to create a new gamertag. When it comes to the point when you have to enter a U.S address, dont panic. All you have to do is go to google & type in the name of a store, eg Toys'R'us (type in USA Toysrus). Then click store locator. Then enter the address of the chosen store (i chose NewYork). You can then login to the new gamertag/profile and download the exclusive Gears of War videos/Gamerpic & Theme. btw: this is an awesome trick Next, i'm gonna make a Japanese gamertag (just type in Japanese Toysrus into google but dont forget to click translate page)

Birds of a feather gather together.

Ya, I love MS which is a 2nd rated company in the console industry. Because MS sets low standard for the games on their X360, the developers can spend less money and shorter development time to make 2nd or 3rd rated games. Gears of War got about 9.5 out of 10 scores on average. GoW is the only game among entire X360 library which is worth $70, moreover GoW is the only thing which has the ability to compete against all those ‘A’ graded games on the PS3 in this Nov. That’s why all these dozens of gaming publications and websites in the United States gave 9.5 out of 10 scores for Epic. All these gaming sites showed some amount of patriotism for their country in order to fight against console giants from other country. These review scores which were generated in the US are very high; indeed, higher than the scores from other countries in Europe; I checked out 14 (fourteen) different review scores of GoW from Swiss, England, Germany, and other European countries, and the average score was 8.2 out of 10. How ironical this it? It’s so simple, all these American reviewers gave high scores for American developer called Epic and American console maker called MS; No wonder. How objective the review scores from these American reviewers when editors from European countries gave only 8.2 out of 10 for this exact same game called GoW! This is the reason why I love America, this country. It’s also a fact that MS invited all these American reviewers to Bungie’s studio and gave preferential treatment and showed the beta version of Halo 3. It’s also a fact that Epic did the exact same thing as the above for dozens of American reviewers to promote their GoW. Birds of a feather gather together. If you read review scores from European publications, you will know this fact. GoW only got 9.5 or 10 score in graphics category. All other categories, such as presentation, sound, gameplay, lasting appeal, multiplayer component, value, etc got lower than 9. If you can do grade 1 math kids, you will know that the average score must be around 8.5 not 9.5 or some crappy bullsh@t like that. Craps of War, you got ‘O’ for overrated. I know that it’s a fact GoW is the game which has the best graphics on the planet named the Earth. It’s a fact so far until newer games are released. [#1] If these American reviewers gave such nonsense higher scores than other publications in the European countries because they were fascinated by the ground breaking graphics of GoW, these American reviewers lost all the credibility from the readers. They only category which got 10 was graphics not the other categories. [#2] If these American reviewers gave such bullsh@t higher scores than other European publications because they want to show patriotism (Birds of a feather gather together) and imperialism (Americans think they must be better than all the other races – yellow, brown, black - including Japan and European countries) then these American reviewers should be fired immediately because subjective mind is obscuring them when they review games. Here’re some (only some not all) reasons why more than a dozen gaming sites (publications) in Europe gave about 8.2 out of 10 scores for GoW. Frequent bad frame rates (stutter-fest, slide show game); single player is too short (to reduce development time and costs – in other words, rushed); game story is laughable (story is almost non-existent); aiming is not as good as other first person killers; this game is all about camping (skilled players camp and have good scores, rushers have bad scores – over-the-should view shouldn’t be used for multiplayer mode); Button A is context-sensitive, that’s why when you want to run away fast from attackers, you may be locked on a nearby wall instead and give an easy kill for your enemy. Epic had to sacrifice the player numbers for multiplayer, and the result is 8 – is this the true next-generation game?; net modes only offer the most boring, oldest and most traditional mode called ‘team deathmatch’. GoW has no innovation and copied all the concepts from other famous games;

rofl

You're the same guy you listed Xbox 360 games by replacing part of their title with "crap". I'll give you the same reply again. You probably went online to see what negatives you could come up with. I bet you've never even played it. GoW is smooth as hell, the frame does not drop below 30. freaking Ps3 fanboy, awww couldn't get a hold of a PS3, eBay account got suspended, which one is it? Too bad for you.

lol @Birds aka crap guy

i was about to say the same thing above comment. I can currently guarantee that the game is not a "stutter fest or slide show" ive had lag one time in single player and it lasted all of 2 secs and ive not seen it again, not even playing the same area over. Second what are all these great games you mention for the ps3 launch? Only one i know that should be some good fun is resistance and even that seems a lil meh to me(the analog sticks being on the same axis kinda bug me for fps). Thats also a pretty crazy comment saying that us magazine publications are giving gow higher scores because it american, case you didnt know we get the ps3 over here as well and lots of people are really hyped for it Hence us magazines like PSM...isnt the us getting the largest allocation of shipments as well. Not that I dont disagree that gow isnt a mind shattering innovative game, it just does so much stuff VERY well.

lol ok i gave a double take

"[#2] If these American reviewers gave such bullsh@t higher scores than other European publications because they want to show patriotism (Birds of a feather gather together) and imperialism (Americans think they must be better than all the other races – yellow, brown, black - including Japan and European countries) then these American reviewers should be fired immediately because subjective mind is obscuring them when they review games." After taking a double glance at your comment I payed more attention and noticed what you said here, first, the *****ing saying is "birds of a feather FLOCK together" to quote back to the future "you sound like a damned moron when you say it wrong". Second you say that "Americans think were better then nearly all races Black brown etc. las time i checked we have tons of blacks yellow browns etc. and i do agree america does come off imperialistic to the rest of the world, because we are (lame ***** i know) but you come off as an ignorant damn tool stop worshiping sony and shoot yourself in the damn mouth....*flame off

by - 2006-11-13 09:13:15
