To come for Gears of War: new versus multiplayer

Sequel or no sequel (or movie), people are still busy getting their Gears of War into gear. Well, make room for just a bit more cog in the COG. TeamXbox reports that Epic Games has a coming game update in the Microsoft certification pipeline that offers the following "Approved-by-Dom" goodies:

720p for VGA users running at 1280x1024
Brand new multiplayer gametype called "Annex."

No details about Annex were offered other than the opinion from play testers that "it is our best multiplayer gametype yet," so when the Epic poster says that more details are in the offing next week, our ears are already up and waiting. Oh, and the update will be free, they said. You gotta love those guys.

It sounds like a territory gametype. I hate those. Please Epic, a standard Deathmatch (more than one life) is all people really want. I'd play Gears online all day if it had that. One death you're out just isn't fun for me

I don't get it. I'm running at 1280 * 1024 and it seems I'm running in HD. What res is it dropping to if not running in 720p ?

You sir are an idiot. So by your logic games like Halo/Counter Strike/Rainbow Six take no strategy because you can respawn? Games take more strategy with respawns since you can't just dominate once and win. And if they include deathmatch alongside all these boring one life gametypes everyone wins, nothing is ruined.

And if you've never seen someone say they want deathmatch rronaldraay you probably haven't looked. Just off the top of my head, go to TeamXbox and look at the comments for this, almost everyone wants standard deathmatch.

its running at 720p blown up to be full screen and it looks terrible. i loved it when it was widescreen it was so appropriate for this game.

if you dont want to play respawning matches,then cool,i dont think warzone's going anywhere anytime soon,they would probably be doing this because of the achievements,i've played alot of matches and havent even gotten a single weapon achievement,res pawning breaks the hard boundaries and makes it easier to get those things,but hey,what's so wrong with having more game types? that's dumber than saying DMC4 shouldnt be on 360,personally i'd like new game types for my games,and for free too,it's just a bit of variety for the good people who buy their game.

ya, I was pissed when the patch came out making it full screen so i checked their forums a few months ago and said they were changing it back to widescreen in the next patch. They also said this time it's going to be fully rendered in 720p and before for VGA it was upscaling.

You state that this game is not as good because you don't respawn but you also put counter strike in as an example with halo and rainbow 6. Now I haven't played rainbow 6 but I know that CS is a last man standing game just like gears so right there your credibilty goes right out the window. Just think of the spawn camping that would happen with weapons like the hammer of dawn and the generally tiny spawn points, it would just be something else for you morons to complain about. If annex is CTF or some sort of territories I won't even go near it, I hate those modes, I will just keep playing execution, its all I play anyway. I just want the glitches fixed I could care less if we get new maps, modes, or skins.

Dude, have you EVER played counter strike? you dont respawn, besides wich those two should never even be on the same list... o.O;;
