THQ plans more downloadable content and in-game ads

THQTHQ's substantial increase in profit can be attributed largely to the success of Saints Row (Xbox 360) and Company of Heroes (PC). This led to a positive readjustments of the company's financial outlook, placing bets on the upcoming releases WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 and The Sopranos.

Along with its stellar financial performance, THQ confirmed the continuation of popular game titles Juiced, MX, and Titan Quest series. Aside from Juiced and MX getting new games, and Titan Quest getting an expansion, no other details have been disclosed. But it's safe to believe that all these goodies will be released in early 2007.

THQ also announced future plans involving downloadable contents and - you guessed it - the dreaded in-game advertising. The company has embraced both these industry trends and will continue to do so to further capitalize on its popular titles. The decision to further tread the downloadable content waters can be traced to Saints Row's Funky Fresh Pack, which raked in 50,000 in paid sales. This supports the belief that more gamers are going online, hence the need to capitalize on the trend.

Bad news or good news, the upcoming Juiced, MX, and Stuntman games would be hosts to a number of in-game ads.

THQ didn't get into the details but it sure wasn't too secretive about plans for Saints Row and Company of Heroes when the company said that it intends to leverage and extend both titles for years to come.

Most of the time this sites doesn't provide enough quality to make a download as an add-on for the game, and in some cases only work for a cupple of months, then the site closes and all the content becomes trash, then the replay value of the game as they promised goes down.

Something like this happend with various titles of Need For Speed.

Is a good strategy, but a bad campain.
