This is what a Natal prototype looks like

Ó

You're seen it in E3 2009, you've seen the concept design released by Microsoft, but have you seen Project Natal in all its prototype glory?

The Seattle Times got hold of this photo showing one such prototype - it's the kind that Microsoft sent out for game developers. No, it doesn't have robo-legs - it's just mounted on a tripod.

The source also mentions that Project Natal and the new iPhone are to be made in the same factory. Both Apple and Microsoft apparently hired Taiwanese manufacturer Pegatron Technology for their respective hardware. Coincidentally, both Natal and the next-generation iPhone are to be launched later this year.

Kinda looks like Wall-E. :D

Apple and Microsoft in the same factory? wow.

But one thing, it can't have that design as final.

btw, people don't come whine about it, you don't like it, don't be a troll.

I'm keeping my expectations low on project NATAL, because I'd hate to be as dissapointed as I was with the eyetoy (or whatever it was called) on the ps2. With a little sister n cat playing in the living room I don't think I should expect everything to be perfect

And Nintendo to penalize Sony for doing a rip-off from their Wii motion controller.

Jeez, just get over it, it's business.

I've been looking into this stuff for months, the Natal is completly different from the Eyetoy, and the PS3 Eye. I've got a PS3 Eye, so i know that it is just an enhanced Eyetoy (good for video chat though), at this stage, with the "Arc", it will be quite a good Motion control as it will follow Lighst on the controls.
The Natal uses multiple Cameras (originally suspected to be Three, but looks like two now) to follow different aspects of motion - when combined and processed gives a far more accurate control of what is happening on the screen.

The only downside the natal has that the Arc can do, it by having a visual reference for the Camera, the subject does not need to refer to themself=ves on the screen - whereas the Natal will be like the eyetoy, if you can't see yourself on screen, you don't have any idea as to where you should be.

At the end of the day, both are just trying to catch up with the Wii in Motion - Even though the Wii could still be a bit better (just a bit though).

iPad is just a big.. Well, everyone knows not even gonna start cuz it's not worth it.

That would be stupid putting iPad inside a Natal package, and Microsoft doesn't play with money, oh Bill might play. :D

It would be fun for 30 minutes. After an hour or so your arms would get tired and you would get tired. And the sweating. Oh, the sweating...

# not for the hardcoreGuest 2010-02-06 15:23
this equipment as with previous motion and video devices is not for the hardcore gamers, although there will be the occasional hxc gamer that wants to axperiance this it will be the casual gamers or the family gamers that will keep sales going for this project, the only reason for anyone on (qj) to buy this is to make reports on it. and i would before making any judgements on this wait for sony to come out with its new video motion and the ARC controller
this is my 2cents take or drop it
