TheSpecialist's HDDHackr v0.90: now allows for 120GB drives! |

In light of the release of the official Microsoft 120GB hard drive for the Xbox 360, TheSpecialist has released an update for HDDHackr. With this solution, you should be able to create your own 120GB Xbox 360 HDD using a Western Digital Scorpio BEVS-LAT drive. Here's TheSpecialist's message that was sent to Xbox-Scene News regarding the HDDHackr update:Attached is the latest version of the hddhackr. It works with the new 120 GB signature. However, this current version can not dump the hddss.bin file automatically from that drive, you'll have to manually dump sectors 16-22 with a tool like winhex and save them as 'hddss.bin'. After that, continue as normal with the hddhackr and everything will be fine.
Also, I'd like to stress that there are 2 versions of the WD BEVS drive out there: the 'RST' and the 'LAT' version. This tool currently ONLY supports the 'LAT' version ! You can find on the sticker of the HDD which version it is. I'll hope to be able to support the RST version of the drive in a future version of this tool.
What's nice about this is that if for some reason you want to use your HDD for your PC again after running it through this tool, there's an "undo" button for your use. It should restore the HDD. Still, be cautious when you use this on your units.
The download below includes the application itself and the readme file (PLEASE READ THE README, they're called that for a reason). However, it does not include "hddss.bin" for obvious reasons.

yeah same here bigp. i have a black and red one, spraypainted it myself and it looks prime. only thing is, it also broke like a few weeks after (got the E74 message). so i went to wal mart and got a new one the next day. they also had an Xbox Elite when i was up there, but i didnt want it. I have no real reasons to upgrade.
oh yea, and i took the new one and put my custom painted casing on it, so now its just like nothing happened. I will say that the new one i bought is much quieter and loads faster, which is nice!

ELite- $479...new features? HDMI! 120GB!...yawn...add another $100 on that baby for a WIRELESS connectivity you get a whopping $579 price tag, not happy? Throw in a HD DVD for you movie buffs...oh wait, thats another $200. So lets do the math now $779..hmm the PS3 is looking real nice. But dont worry, atleast people are now hacking the 360 so that we can have bigger HD...wait...the PS3 can be easily be upgraded, thats ok, theres always LINUX thats coming out soon...damn, the PS3 ALREADY has Linux. Thats ok, us 360 owners has GAMES!...but wait...the PS3 will do too...DAMN!
PS3 $599...HDMI! 80GB! BLU RAY! WIRELESS! LINUX!...what to say here...oh yeah, not enough games! but wait, Q4 07 is when the PS3 will shine....I got it! ONLY 80GB of HD, but then again, a 250GB HD sells for -100 on Bestbuy...imagine Ebay.
Before you go bashing me as a fanboy, I have the 360, reg xbox, PS2, PS1, PSP, Windows vista, and Zune.
why'd you say Vista and Zune? last time i checked they aren't consoles.
