Updates about Track 7's adventure game Theseis (PC, Xbox 360) aren't really trickling down like raindrops on a cloudy and rainy day, so when we found out that Adventure Advocate had a sit-down with the Track 7 folks, we pounced on the chance to dish out what's up with the game straight from the devs themselves.

As always, the interview was laden with personal stuff, so with that, we'll be focusing more on the tidbits about Theseis. The devs who talked with Adventure Advocate were Dimitris Papadopoulos - Advertising Manager of Theseis, worldwide; Nektarios Xionis - Concept Artist / Script Writer; Kostas Giatilis – Animator / Script Writer; Michael Georgopoulos - Programmer; and Giannis Tsiombikas - Programmer.

When asked how far into the game have they finished and what are the problems they encountered during development, they said that after two years of work, they are now in the final stage of the game's completion. They also exposed that they have no problems with manpower but there has been a change in the game's story which led to a minor delay.

Aside from that, they also clarified that the game won't be in Greek. The Track 7 devs said that "what you have seen in the trailer was in ancient Greek and it was used to show the past and the true nature of Theseis. Since the game takes place in modern Greece, we will see shops, locations as Monastiraki, and names that will be in Greek. Moreover, we will have Greek subtitles. There is also the possibility of localization in some other languages."

When asked about the game's characters and its story, this is what they had to say:

The two heroes have lots in common, but have many differences as well. They have grown up together, received the same education, yet they have a different opinion about the world and this is clearly seen into the game. Yes, there is an attraction between them. Pheve and Andronicos are orphans who grew up together up until a certain age. Nothing is coincidental.

The game takes place in Athens and there are other locations like Crete and Delphi. There is no portrayal of Athens as this was not the object and it didnÂ’t even offer something to the gameÂ’s story. We were based on Athens as to produce a certain level of plausibility, but we didnÂ’t want to bear with the restrictions you have when representing a location. No, the secret hidden in the document has nothing to do with common conspiracy stories or mystical organizations. ItÂ’s something different. But we canÂ’t answer this question as it is the gameÂ’s secret.

The game stands out in a way because it won't have any action sequences - no gunplay, deaths - nada, zilch. But Theseis will have a mix of various games "for example, stealth, action, magic, humor, puzzle solving, 2 playable characters, and a new form of inventory system, which we find to be a pioneer in this genre." When asked what kind of puzzles will players encounter, they said:

There are logical puzzles, mechanical puzzles, dialogue puzzles, magic puzzles and investigating puzzles. That means there is a plethora in that strain. We believe that the magic and mechanical puzzles are the ones to make us stand out of other adventures. Our character moves in a fully 3D environment and combines objects, abilities and his 3D inventory as to solve problems.

As for the game's release date, they said that nothing is definite for now as this depends on the publisher (they're still choosing a publisher, apparently). But from their point of view, it would be release around the end of 2007. To read the word-per-word account of the interview, check out the source link below.

» WOW

the game looks amazing, i know this is in my top list for 2007. I actually been waiting for a game like this for time now. Non violent game i believe is for the masses. As the game states it will have stealth, magic, acrobatics, puzzles, greek ancient environments! WOW! Everything in an action/adventure. The story is very mysterious as well, which is excellent. And from their very incredible site a big change from their old one, www.theseisgame.com they are mentioning 20 levels or so. That's big for the money i'm going to spend. Go on Track7, we are all with you! :) and good luck!

» Looks amazing but consistent?

Maybe it's part of the game, and i could be wrong, but the nice child- and colorfull town versus the angry beast. It isn't really consistent or am I mistaking? I hope this is a gamedesign choice of the Creative Director.
