One of the most popular modders that we have at the moment, Ben Heckendorn, owner of BenHeck.com and creator of the Xbox 360 Laptop, has just unveiled his latest creation: an Xbox 360 controller which can be played with one hand.

Alright, before everyone starts inserting jokes about games that can be played with a single hand, the first thing that we have to remember is that this controller was built with disabled people in mind so that they may also be able to enjoy Xbox 360 games. Don't you just love a guy who's got such helpful ideas?

To best describe the layout of this modded controller, Ben explains it best:

I managed to get both rumble controllers on this thing because I didn't want to accidentally build a Sixaxis. The right analog shoulder button has been moved down and flipped for use with the pinky finger. The X Y B A triggers, along with right bumper, have been rewired with tact switches to the middle for actuation by the middle and ring fingers. The left analog trigger and left bumper have not been moved.

This is a great mod. For a great cause. Hell of a idea to help a friend who lost his arm in Iraq. "Built by request for a serviceman injured in Iraq". Glasses up! Way to go Ben. Let me see some you kids do what he does for people. Smartin up already.

I can easily see him charging something like 150-200 dollars for custom making that sort of controller.

He aint no geek, he just knows how to mod.

150-200$??? did you just pull that out of your ass!? you have no idea what you're talking about. with the hours of work required to create that controller, it would easily be worth 10 times that much. if it actually works well, there would be a lot of handicapped people interested. custom equipment for the handicapped is always super expensive. i have a cousin who is deaf and mute, and she uses a cell phone worth 6,000$.

I can see for this would be getting your non-game loving significant other into gaming. Imagine mastering this controller and then making sure her controller doesn't work.

You'd be watching her but she wouldn't notice you controlling stuff, and then she'd be amazed when she finished a racing game expertly after one try!

I don't take offense to that, but geek? Look at what this guys doing: wiring, sauldering, molding casing, taking machines apart and rebuilding them in different ways. Manly things. Sure, it'd be more manly if it were a car, but give the guy some man points for knowing his way around a piece of equipment like 360's and 360 controllers enough to rebuild laptops and one handed controllers. Thumbs up to that guy.
