The Internet Is for Pr0n, err, Piracy |
Ó

It seems like Talk Like a Pirate Day was taken too seriously by someone. And unfortunately, he got busted for it. See, kids? Piracy is a very, very bad thing. And remember when that unsuspecting guy uploaded a pirated copy of Advent Children up at Google? The long arm of the law (in this case Square Enix) is hard to escape.
The other day, a man in Lowestoft, Suffolk (UK) was arrested for producing and profiting from pirated games, music CDs, movie, and pornography, all projected to amount to £40,000 (that's roughly $50,700). Officials from the MCPS (Mechanical Copyright Protection Society) and ELSPA anti-piracy investigators confiscated the man's copying equipment and a large amount of discs. There were 20 copying machines, and 5,000 CDs. It has been thought that he had been exchanging his pirated products over the internet and has been operating within and outside of UK.
We're just glad that ELPSA is really hunting down on these counterfeiters. Remember when they grabbed some woman's fake assets? So, unless you want your assets to be grabbed, remember: piracy is BAD, mate!

its freedom of software, and yes if i made sumthing i would want to share it with ppl with out letting them pay
i thought my school was the only people who did talk like a pirate day lawl!
eff your so full of it
You're about $25,000 off. 40,000 GBP equals about 75,000 USD
Anyway, I support private piracy under certain conditions, like how people in Europe have to pay $60 for Test Drive, while we in America pay only $40. That's just not right, and if I lived in Europe I would probably do it. But making a profit off it is just down-right evil, and I'm glad this f*cker was caught.
i still ont have to balls to mod my 360 i like having my warrenty in tact, personally i have to issue with piracy but when people are making money off it i feel thats screwing over the devs who make it.

Good call. I was just headed to do the real conversion, because I knew 50k wasn't right.

I don't 'support piracy' in any way shape or form, but when my european friends say they can't get a game AT ALL or have to pay twice what I do for it, I can definitely understand their motivation and I don't think less of them. The artificial lines drawn between US/Asia/Europe/etc are pointless now. Sure, have the EU require their ratings system be used as well as the US's... I understand that. But don't make a whole new box and release months later just because it's on a different spot on the globe. Absolutely ridiculous.
