I wouldnt say the 360 *Kingdom* is trembling, more like getting rid of its parasites. People who pirate games are killing the industry, so to do away with their ability to play backup games is to do away with piracy on said console. If people are so hard up on spending a measly $50 on a game then why not just sign up for a rental service? $10 a month for 3 rentals and you can keep them out as long as youd like. You've got to give it to MS for having the balls to do this. Not many people expect them to take a risk on banning paying live users when it's a good source of revenue for the platform. I really hope the benefits of taking this type of action at least strength the platform from the publisher side of things. Only time will time if this will have a positive or negative affect on the platform. It wont get rid of piracy because copied games still boot, but banning access to xbox live will make the decision of modifying your console a tougher one to make.

I like to sit my opinion right in the middle of you. Everyone that hacked their console had to realize that if they use xbox live they are going to risk getting banned. You can't be mad at MS for protecting there investment when the rules are black and white. You make the mistake of saying MS will lose 40% of it's live income but then you say they did it to make more money because their greddy.?. 40% is a crazy number also, loller is right it's probably 5 to 10%. And now instead of pirating your games on the 360 your going to sell your console and buy a PS3 and pay for your games? It's sounds like to me the only reason you and your friends bought a 360 is to pirate games. I guess MS did the industry a favor, cause now your going to buy your software.?. I do not think all pirates are bad. The firmware hack for one didn't allow cheating which was good. Most of them pay for Live, DLC, Accessories, Movies, Themes etc... Many of them visit this board and comment on games they have played, promote titles they liked, content they have purchased and inform the community with information about the platform. But you get often get knuckle heads like the guy 2 posts above me that steals games, says the games aren't that great, thinks MS owes them something and thinks getting a PS3 is a smart solution for being caught. I think MS probably did the right thing. Bad luck if you got caught. At least your console isn't a brick. With rental sites offering cheap monthly subscriptions maybe many of you should look into this solution if you want to escape future bans.

After all those that got their xbox 360 replaced in garantuee had to go through the process of trying to reclaim the spend points! I'm not outraged, It was so obviously coming and I did get almost a year of online for games which I did not support the publisher. The hacked firmware I flashed came with a clear warning to 'use on xbox live at own risk' so there was fair warning. I do understand why MS is taking a zero tolerance attitude even tho a perm ban is a bit harsh because I may have considered reverting to the original firmware and purchasing games for the xbox live feature but at the price of a new console I do not think so. In conclusion MS has some big balls and I have no big beef with em like the previous post says it could have been worse and they could of bricked us then we would have nothing. peace!

my console got banned 2day - was looking to play HALO 3 after my exams [legit copy of Crackdown!] oh well - gonna wait a few days & see if someone can come-up with a hack that allows you to play on live - that would be something. i feel cheated coz my XBL membership ran out yesterday & i renewed it & 2day i got banned [thats £40 down the drain] oh yeah - i'll return my console back to the shop & swap for a new one [if a hack doesn't come out soon] & flash it when everything is sorted :D

I knew the risk when my firmware was flashed, but most of the games on the 360 are rubbish and paying £40+ a time to see if there any good is too much of a risk, yeah i download games and if there any good i buy them and play them online. But now theres no point in buying them if i cant play online, so cancelled my subscription and will only download games from now on, no big deal, still have system link on local.

Yeah, big deal about live. Yeah it sucks and was pretty sweet but that was just an extra feature. If i lose it, then I'll just go back to the good ole days with Xbox Connect and XLink Kai. I'm not sure if they check Live on the console (probably), but even if they don't when they sell it and the person who bought it has a problem with it you will probably get a phone call from that shop. Oh and if you were thinking about eBay, not disclosing the little fact that it is perma-banned from Live in the auction description would be illegal, and you would get in one heck of a mess with eBay, PayPal, and your credit card company when the buyer disputes the charge.
