Infinite Undiscovery requires multiple discs, according to TGS report - Image 1Apparently, another upcoming larger-than-life Xbox 360 title's going to be a little too large for one normal-sized DVD.

A recent interview with Infinite Undiscovery's Hiroshi Ogawa (director) and Hajime Kojima (producer) over at the ongoing TGS 2007 indicates that the game will require multiple discs, although it was not clear as to exactly how many would be needed.

The pair also indicates that the game is expected to span between 30 to 40 hours of play. Given that Infinite Undiscovery's reportedly far from complete (but already looking pretty good), we advise readers to treat this last detail with a bit of speculation.

Aside from Square Enix's Infinite Undiscovery, Mistwalker's Lost Odyssey has also been reported as another multi-disc title, coming in at 4 DVDs. Prior to these two, Microsoft's Blue Dragon came in at three discs.

To all the anti-Sony nay sayers who said that we don't need Blu-ray. What do you say now? What now X-bots?

» well...

as an owner of an xbox and just so coincidentally more than 2 braincells, im ok with utilizing my hands to swap a disc every 15 hours of gameplay, i know this is a hard concept for the new generation of lazy gamers.... you all cant rember the days when you had to use 6 cds to install/play a game, that kinda sucked, ff7-9 had multi disc... no one rly complained there, bluray is bigger, but without the memory to back it which the ps3 lacks, its no better than the xbox drive.... sorry its just the way it is....besides wtf do i care its a fun game, i just want to play it.... get over the war go play a god damn game!

because there were no other options. The only thing available to game developers during those times were CDs. It doesn't really bother me if it's on more then one disc (if reasonable). It bothers me when developers can't fit everything they want onto one disc because of the lack of available space and therefore cut corners.

» Very true

I don't mind having my games loaded on multiple disks, so long as it means that the devs went all-out in making the game worth my money.

» wow

does that mean that rockstar is having trouble putting gta on one disc. i dont think that gta can be put on one two disc. that would suck when u have to put another disc in to go to another city.

» Not THAT big a deal

I don't understand why so many people make a big deal of this. Oh no, at one point in the game you have to put in a new disc. How will you live? That dangerous walk from you sofa to your console will surely kill you! Its a good thing that I play on my monitor and my console is within reach from where I sit Like phalanges said, as long as the game doesn't end up being crappy, it's OK.

» not likely

not really, just load the first half of the core sotryline into the first disc, i highly doubt it will need 2 discs...only games so far are rpg's really, lots of vids lots or textures lots of animations sound files etc, rpgs just have a shyteload of data behind em, shooters and action games tend to use a lot of common data

» BUT

It could definitely be more annoying on free roam (GTA) games.

» Exactly

It isn't an issue at all with long RPGs. So you have to put in a new disc after playing the first one for 10-20 hours, those 10-20 hours being stretched over multiple days? Jesus, don't f*cking kill yourself.

But yeah, it would get extremely annoying in free-roam games like GTA. Imagine having to put in a new disc every time you want to go to the other half of the city
