Survey says: 60% of UK Xbox 360s have RROD'ed |

Ó
Has your console failed you? Any lights of death showing up? CNET
wanted to know, so gamers from the UK responded to the survey with
their console stories in hand. Coming out on top of the failure rate
stat is the Xbox 360, with 60% of the respondents reporting that theirs
have displayed the dreaded RROD.The survey, commissioned by CNET UK last month, saw 1,128 respondents - 562 Xbox 360 owners, 473 for PS3, while 591 had Wii. They didn't provide a three-way Venn Diagram of those numbers, but judging by those numbers, quite a few of them have more than one console.
Numbers, numbers, numbers: 34% of those who've had an Xbox 360 since January 2008 reported that their consoles have broken, while 47% said theirs broke within a year. Only 25% had a good 18 months before it broke, but 29% have had theirs broken more than once.
Do note that this survey is self-selecting, meaning that a random sample of console owners were not used, and those who took the survey may be ones who have a lot to say about the subject, possibly based on experience. There may also be instances where hardware failed due to neglect on the user's end, not the manufacturer. There are a lot of variables that put the accuracy of the survey into question, but it should make for an estimate nonetheless.
In case you were curious, the survey also found that 16% of the respondents had their PS3s go YLOD, while 6% had their Wii fail.
Has your Xbox 360 red-ringed on you?

But on a more serious approach that number is bloody high! 60% means a lot of people. And 29% have broken more than once and some people are like on their 8th X360..... Microsoft this clearly is a sign for you to exit the gaming scene and stick to what you know. Which is nothing as they failed with OSes too (Win Vista?)......

I dont think you've grown up, I think you've just discovered pc's... shame its at the arse end of its life... gaming-wise.
oh well eh?

I think you better check the scoreboard +)
With a Very cheap Core i7 Pc with about 8 to 12 gigs of ram and a Nice graphics card the PC blows the 360 and PS3 out of the water and with DX11 out it's even better, When i play my PC games then switch to PS3 i think WOW the PS3 is OLD!!! No matter what PC games will look better then Console games, i had said this back in 1990 and i'll say it again +) But don't get me Wrong i love my PS3 and the many games that is has.

@Musev
I've seen you bash the PC in many other articles. Why is this so?
**That's easy**He's broke, lives with mommy and daddy and can't afford one that is capable of playing current games!! I love my PS3(especially for media streaming to my Sammy), HBC Wii and 360. But when it comes to multiplatform I choose PC because of the hardware advantage. My PSN/XBL is skygunner27. Add me :)

If it wasn't for the negative response that Microsoft recieved because of Vista's lackluster performance then we wouldn't have the Windows 7 that we have today.
Did I mention that I'm running W7(64bit)?
If not. I am ;P

BTW this question will make you feel stupid so be warned. XP was released to market in 2001 and support for it ends ended last year (2008), Why did Microsoft decide to pull the plug on Vista (2006) last month when they released Win 7? Vista lasted just about 2 years with 6% people saying they were satisfied and for XP 40% were very satisfied. Even now the Vista user base is 28% of market share while XP is 68%.
One more thing consoles are universal, meaning they all have the same hardware no matter what. Meaning all games run and have less compatibility issues and anyone with the hardware can play. Can anyone play Crysis Warhead? Can anyone owning a PS3 play Modern Warfare 2?
PC's do own compared to a console because it can be upgraded to perform better. So to play a new super game new hardware is required, to achieve high frame rates.

Just because use heard or read somewhere that Vista was a failure and base you arguement on that understanding makes you such a tool. I can agree with you that Vista was not as good as it should have been. But it was no where near the word "failure". IMO I think Vista improved after the release of the Service Pack 1 Update.
Your logic is also wrong when it comes to PC gaming. You do not have to have a PC with C2D,I7 or Quad Core to play current gen. I know people who play Gears of War on a P4(PENTIUM 4) and a 3 year old GPU that looks better than your PS3.
How's that for having to upgrade? 3 years ago you were gaming on a PS2 because you just recently bought your PS3 at 299.99USD.
Most PC's can play current gen games. What you have to decide is a what Res and how many FPS and how many features that are usually pc specific do you want to run in your game. That question answered is the difference between buying a PC or buying a Gaming PC.
Even the average consumer level PC with a Intel GMA can play current games but at low settings and at low resolution.

You do know I'm talking about recent games. Any PC bought for 300 quid now would blitz any game from 2-3 years back.
Try playing COD4 or MW2 on a Intel GMA it'll give you a very distinct error which doesn't even let the game boot. BTW the error is UBYTE4N vertex error.
You don't make sense. A 300 dollar PS3 will play games released for it 4 years from now. Will your PC allow you to play a hardcore game 4 years from now without upgrade? A High Tier gaming PC costs around 1000 bucks..... A PS3 costs 300 and it still can play games at 60FPS in 1080p until Sony drops support.
One more thing there is a reply button after every post, hope that helps.

It's beyond doubt now that the 360 has a completely unacceptable failure rate, but it's not 60%. Prob more like 30-40%.
None of these CNET numbers mean anything because not enough people replied.

Give me a credible link that proves Vista was a complete failure.
You can't!
Most PC's released within the last 3 years came with Windows Vista that means that Microsoft made a profit from the manfactures.
Do you understand this undeniable fact?
You still don't get it. The RSX Synthesizer in the PS3 is based on NV47 Chip (Nvidia GeForce 7800 Architecture).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSX_'Reality_Synthes izer'
If you don't believe me then look it up. At the time of the PS3's release a 8800GT was available. That means the PS3 launched with less than what was available to the PC at that time. That means the GPU was inferior right out of the factory.
I also have a launch BC 60GB PS3 with Emotion Engine. Whoopty doo!!! You haven't a clue how much it costs to update a desktop. You can buy a GPU for 150.00 at the Bestbuy outlet center or at New Egg that will smoke a PS3. The sky's the limit. What you want to do depends on you and daddy's your pockets. Don't get me wrong when FF13 & Versus come out, I'll be on my PS3 until I beat both games. I also use my PS3,360 and Wii everyday.
The one thing that I can say that I appreciate is that on PC(Steam) I usually game with other teen to adult players. But on XBL & PSN I ocasionally but not always run into the 7 year old know it all that knows every bad word in the book.....lol. No thanks.
The more and more I reply to you the less I see that you know about PC's and game politics.
Good day

Mr Ballmer said: "We got some uneven reception when [Vista] first launched in large part because we made some design decisions to improve security at the expense of compatibility. I don't think from a word-of-mouth perspective we ever recovered from that."

Those artcles you referred me to do not explain how with all the PC's sold in the last 3 years with Vista pre-installed and Micro$oft making money on each PC sold with Vista as an OS could be hardly considered a failure.
I'm sure Microsoft made a huge amount of money off of Vista.
Even though I use Windows 7 64bit, I still give Microsoft credit for improving the Vista experience with SP1.
In fact up until Oct. 22nd 2009 I use to run my PC games on Vista 64bit Sp1 without any problems what so ever.
Do you even get out much? Still on XP?
I have XP on my Asus 1005HA netbook. I am working on getting W7HP installed on it. I know XP was the cats meow way back when..but it's time to elevate your company ;P

When Vista was released Microsoft gave it out to new PC's for free. With the "downgrade" CD. The CD which allowed people who bought a computer with Vista go to XP. So even though the person when back to XP the Vista they got at the start counts as a sale. Even Dell the main sponsor of Vista were handing out downgrade CD's as standard and even went all the way by selling the XP as standard. Trust me Vista was a failure to everyone. Even though they made money off it. Windows XP is still running as the main contender. BTW Ive been running Win7 for more than 6-7 months.
One more thing, people only get personal when they are either wrong or feeling a bit stupid.
