Now that Super Street Fighter IV is out and about, what can fans of the fighting series look forward to now? Costume packs, of course!

Here's the Japanese release schedule for the upcoming downloadable costume packs. Even though this is for Japan, the releases in other territories should be pretty close to the dates mentioned below.

  • Available in pre-order: Super Classic Pack (Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Gen, Fei Long)
  • Now available: Super Challengers Pack 1 (Hakan, Makoto, Guy, Dudley, Dee Jay)
  • May 11: Super Shoryuken Pack (Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, Dan)
  • May 25: Super Beauty Pack (Chun-Li, C. Viper, Sakura, Rose, Cammy)
  • June 8: Super Challengers Pack 2 (Juri, Ibuki, Cody, Adon, T. Hawk)
  • June 15: Super Brawlers Pack (Zangief, E. Honda, Rufus, Abel, El Fuerte)
  • June 22: Super Shadaloo Pack (Vega, Sagat, Balrog, M. Bison, Seth)
  • June 29: Super Classic Pack (Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Gen, Fei Long)
  • July 27: Super Complete Pack (All 35 costumes)

The packs will run you US$ 3.99 on the PlayStation Store and 320 MS Points on the Marketplace. That last pack, which contains all 35 costumes, should go for much higher than that.

Just wondering because I've never been one to buy these things: Do you also get to see whatever costume your opponent is using even if you haven't downloaded the pack yourself?

Yeah you can see what your opponent is using even if you didn't buy the packs because all the costumes are already on the retail disc that you own. Those money grubbing douches at Capcom purposely keep them locked so they can charge you extra money. All you're paying for is a 'key' that enables each costume.

I wouldn't be so peeved except I remember that "each character now has 3 costumes!" trailer Capcom put out. But it turns out if you don't already have the 'first' costume packs from original SFIV you have just the 1 normal costume.

Yeah money grubbing, god forbid they make money to keep employees working so they can make more games. Dude, how about this? Don't buy it. If you don't buy it then you aren't getting "ripped off" then you have nothing to complain about. It's always amazing to me how people complain about stuff they have Options for.

Next time go out, pass by a store then stand in front of it and complain about how all the clothes are over priced and the people who run the company are money grubbers. A good start would be Lane Bryant, then watch how many people think of you looking like a complete douche. It's not game breaking.. Careful you don't twist your ankle coming off your soap box..

Glad to see there are idiots out there that think it's ok to sell something that's already on the disk for additional charge. Are you ok with buying a DVD but can't use 5.1 surround sound unless you pay additional $1.99?
