Square Enix clarifies Final Fantasy status on Xbox 360 |

It can be recalled that Japan's Nikkei BP has quoted Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto as saying, "As for Final Fantasy on the Xbox 360, it's currently a completely blank page." Now this may sound like a ruling out of Final Fantasy titles on the Xbox 360, however, a Square Enix spokesperson says that the mentioned interpretation of the quote isn't that accurate.Speaking to Games Industry, the Square Enix spokesperson clarifies: "Hashimoto-san was talking about the current situation." What does this mean? This means that the possibility of Final Fantasy titles on the Xbox 360 isn't ruled out entirely.
If the multiplatform title The Last Remnant performs well in Japan, particularly on Microsoft's Xbox 360, then perhaps in the future, we may see more Square Enix titles made for the console - perhaps even a Final Fantasy. Why so much caution though regarding console releases from Square Enix? Here's Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter's analysis:
Square Enix faces a dilemma: put the next game on the 360 only and alienate Japanese fans, depart with tradition and make it multi-platform, or go with PS3 as an exclusive and deal with the backlash from the west.
I view Square Enix as a tradition-bound company, and expect the last alternative to be chosen...
Perhaps The Last Remnant is Square's attempt to hit two birds with one stone. For one thing, it can be argued that the title tests the waters when it comes to future title performance on specific consoles. Also, as previous reports have said, the title does target both East and West.
This blogger certainly hopes that things pan out well. More titles on more consoles is always a good thing right? At least we get more options, right?

if it is as boring and tedious as 10 was i say good riddance to final fantasy.. That game had a terrible story easily hateable characters. just wait when the ps3 version comes out and both of the people that bought a ps3 buy itsquare will change its mind just as quickly as capcom did when resident evil 4 was a gamecube exclusive and they brought it to ps2..

That is far from the truth. Many Xbox owners like myself have a long history with final fantasy, dating all the way back to the NES. Although I happily played the FF series on PS1 and PS2, this is not enough to make me buy a PS3. I would be happy to continue playing Final Fantasy games, but S-E needs to recognize that while FF titles may be exclusive to Playstation, FF fans are not. I would love to play FFXII and XIII, but that woll not happen until they show up on Xbox 360. The FF series has too long of a history with too many gamers to keep it exclusive to a single (and very expensive) gaming machine.
Seems to me like the first guy was saying there's no plans for the FFXIII series hitting the Box, but the later guy was saying how that doesn't mean a final fantasy game will never get to the 360. Or maybe one of the spin-offs will hit the 360, but not anytime soon?
Who knows, but SE does love them some of that Sony and Nintendo action.
Japanese guys are traditionnal guys, and anyway, they already know that sony can give them a lot of cash to have the exclusivity. Also, they made the white engine for ps3, not x360!!! Finally, they always do their games for sony, it's that simple.
