Spring Dashboard Update finally here |

For those who've been waiting and hoping for the Spring Dashboard Update, it's finally here! Major Nelson has announced that the update is going live on Xbox Live. The next time players sign in, they will be prompted to receive the update.The Major has some reminders like the prompt will appear when you sign in and not while in the middle of the game. Also, the update will go live simultaneously worldwide. Logging out and back in will not make the prompt for the update appear (better wait for your next session or log out for a few minutes). The update is particularly known for the integration of LIVE Messenger feature on the Dashboard. Other features include:
- New achievement pop-up with name and score value
- New Marketplace blade places content all in one place
- Friends playing now feature at Xbox LIVE Arcade
- Console can be set to turn off after downloads to save energy.

this update has bricked my xbox, i just turned the xbox on done the update then when it restarted i got 3 red lights.... DONT DO THE UPDATE *****ING MICROSOFT AND JUST WHEN THE HALO3 BETA IS ROUND THE CORNER
I have a launch console, and it did not brick my system. Everything started up fine. I do love the new marketplace blade, but it sucks that there was a download of the Forza2 demo waiting for me.
OK, Can confirm I also have the 3 red rings. Whats going on? Can this be fixed. It does not do anything. No picture on the screen, nothing. Just 3 red lights. Is this because my drive is firmware patched? Will it fix it if I get the original firmware put back on?

Do you also have your drive firmware patched? Is this what has caused the problem. Ive just tried it again now and its still doing the exact same thing, even when I unplug the cable that connects me to live. After the update installed, the console turned itself off, and just came back on itself with three red lights (the top right one is not lighting up). Im a little worried now to say the least (hence the google search and ending up here). Anyone know what I can do?

i updated and it works fine but when i try to log into messenger it says im using a child account...but i turned 18 a few weeks ago ....any suggestions???:S

i have a Hitachi/LG drive + it hasn't bricked my console - i updated after 360mods.com said the update was safe. my back-up's play fine.
I don't know if I have the firmware updated. If it doesn't do it automatically, then no, I don't. As far as consoles are concerned I leave it be except to play games and download trailers/demos. And I'm sorry for the typo I had above...I meant to say that there was *NO* demo of Forza2. I hope I didn't get anyones hopes up.
this really sucks, im 15 and can't use msn. THIS SUCKS, any may around this?
damn msn is failing to sign in for me, every time, it shows me log in to the account (on other msn accounts) just refuses to boot up my buddy list etc, so what im wondering is if theres a limit of friends set by m$ for use on the 360? i mean i know i have just under 400 on my list which is a bit excessive in itself but at the same time, i cant figure out how to get it into my other account (with only 10 ppl on it) oh and obviously no brick here, but then no modded firmware either lol
It seems that Tversity will no longer work after the update and that you need to use MS buy MS software to stream your media files to the console now. Very Dissapointed MS
Like im going to put it online after I have said my console is modded. I do not own any Sony consoles, and I love my xbox. I have not said a bad word against it other that I have this problem. While its not a launch console, it has 27th March 2006 on the sticker on the back of the console as the manufacturing date. I dont know what drive that means I have. I had it patched around August last year so my firmware will not be anywhere near the latest I should not think. I do not know why you are being so abusive GOPAL892005. Im only asking for help on what to do now, not dissing Microsoft or the 360.
Is it still possible to log in with different region-accounts? Like I live in germany and want an UK or US download that is not on the german marketplace

I don't think they will let you do that anymore. Germany has many restrictions on marketplace downloads for some reason. Maybe somebody out there thought of a creative hack.
that was the first thing i did no luck it worked fine >20hs ago as me and my friend finshed it for the first time i updated it with the disc in the drive and it rebooted it made horable sounds. now whene i boot with the disc in it says "unplayble disc" otherwise "to play this disk. put it in an xbox 360 console"....
just upgraded dashboard and everything seems ok. samsung drive flashed 5.2, backup booted. what is this jitter correction thing.

Hey all i just got the latest ms firmware and installed it me stock 360 no problem, then installed it on my h-lg 0047 and fine again! then installed it on my ts 25 and no problems! yes i think i can say that there is no hack prevention!

Not gonna be getting the MSN Messenger thing (I want to play games, not chat with the bothersome people on my Messenger list) but the Marketplace blade is pretty cool, and everything loads fast on the MP now Joinable icon FTW! Works fine on my Elite BTW, got the update when it was released at around 2:30 AM and everything is fine. Though the first time I turned it on after waking up today I couldn't get a picture (hooked up with the HDMI cable) but after going back to my cable TV input on my TV then back to the HDMI input it worked
Most people who mod their Xbox 360 do it to get around MS's restrictions, but yeah, anybody who modded it with the intention of cheating in games, good riddance I will honestly seek out and cause physical harm to the first nerd who figures out how to mod Halo 3
i updated and there was no problem at all, the only reason i could see it bricking your console is if you own a ps3 and are dumb enough to unplug your 360 while its updating... which it says not to... hmm...

When u get 3 red rings that means that ur system is overheating. So shut it off for a couple of hours and keep ur 360 in a well ventilated area. NOT ON CARPET!!!!!!!!!! and stand it upright, not on its side. -B
