Double AgentUK magazine Pro-G recently got a few more details about the revamped multiplayer mode in Splinter Cell: Double Agent. The development team of Double Agent wanted to deepen the Splinter Cell multiplayer experience, that's why they chose to go a different path from the established multiplayer concept of Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory.

The XBox and PS2 versions of the game will get the new Spy vs Spy mode, where both teams have the same abilites and equipment. Here, the skill lies in how to move and fight better than the other team.

On Xbox 360, Challenge and Versus modes will be available. These modes are developed with the horsepower of the X360 and Xbox Live in mind. The recruitment and progression features included in those modes allow players to develop their agent over multiple matches, as the agent uses specific gear and climbs the agent rankings.

When you control a persistent character, and just completing the objectives won't finish the mission, you have to get him out of the situation too! The Upsilon Forces have new items and moves like the "drones" to find and kill agents escpecially when they're escaping. The Challenge mode lets you and your teammates train against AI bots. While this is used to learn the basic gameplay of the mode at first, later on, it becomes a real challenge. This mode is the only way to get a 100% mark on every map.

With the new modes, Ubisoft tries to freshen up the Splinter Cell multiplayer experience and hopes unfair multiplayer matches will be a thing of the past. Splinter Cell: Double Agent was recently delayed, and will therefore hit consoles in October.
