Master Chief ready to fight some disc errors - Image 1Microsoft's Xbox division and developer Bungie Studios probably earned lots of greenbacks from the release of Halo 3 alone, but that much comes with countless of complaints on the Internet about defective discs. And we're not talking about Limited Editions getting scratched here.

Some Xbox 360 units are apparently getting "Cannot Read Disc" errors after some Master Chief moments, while others stop working completely.

There are numerous claims on both official Bungie and Xbox forums about Halo 3 causing plenty of problems, including consoles suffering from the red rings of death. Many others who want to finish the fight encounter disc read errors in specific game modes, keeping them from playing further.

The case doesn't seem to be about whether it's the Limited or Standard edition, because both have been reported to cause problems. Some root the issues down to hard disc data being corrupted, as removing the hard disc seem to make the game work fine. Physical scratches on the game are often disregarded, since even those who are running on their replaced copies claim to experience these problems. Others who recently bought a 360 for Halo 3 aren't any more fortunate.

With all the big threads appearing on popular online forums about Halo troubles, we reckon Microsoft or Bungie won't be keeping mum for long. Our eyes are peeled for any official statements, so watch this space!

» um...

this is what happens when you use alot of PR and not enough beta testing... same happened to playstation home and that is why it was delayed... course thats how i see it as of right now, feel free to comment as long as you have a few good understandable points.

» ah yes.

I have never agreed with the use of CD formats for games. I am a PC user at heart and I like that games are installed directly to the hard drive and read from there. I even agreed more with carts than CD formats.

» As a PS3 fanboy

called you a fanboy...

you called yourself a fanboy then denied it, and then boast of how you own all consoles as a basis for your denial.

you've got a lot of issues... didn't get a lot of attention growing up did you?

well skidz is right. CD's are a terrible format for running games.

As for this error though. i've played through the campaign twice and got a good day and a half online and i've never had any of these errors.

(legendary edition)

Why are people still blaming rings of death on certain games? Games aren't causing it, idiots.

I haven't had any problems with the game, other than it's hard to stop playing.

» hmmm

no problems here....

except I did have my dashboard freeze more than once while trying to listen to a voice message sent from Halo 3.

I had the H3 disc in the drive, but I was at the main dash.

beyond that, ZERO problems....

» Hey Quixand

Not everyone is lucky growing up ;)

But it seems the problems never cease for MS, Wow and here i thought MS and claimed Halo 3 is gold. Well MS better fix this or they could be looking at a major lawsuit.
