"Conceptually, the launch of Natal will be like the launch of Xbox 360." That is what Shane Kim, Microsoft corporate VP for strategy and business development, told Kotaku. The plan is to have a ramp up in marketing for Microsoft's E3 motion-sensing star so big that it'll be just like launching a new console.

"It's going to be that big," Kim said. And just like a console, Project Natal's launch will come with titles supporting the new motion-sensor. He added:

We're not just going to ship it when the hardware and software are ready. We have to make sure that there are enough content experiences that are really good. That's similar to how you would think of the launch of a new console. It's got to have a great launch line-up. That's the same thing here.

No doubt that the big day will be one we'll be writing like hell about, and impressed or skeptical about it or not, it's evident that Microsoft has that much faith in Natal to launch it like it's a console on its own.

» ok...

that's great. It sounds like they are learning from sony's fail of having good games out at launch. I really hope they are not thinking of considering Natal to be their next console upgrade in the scheme of things. I can see The next Nintendo system coming out, followed by the PS4, and microsoft saying...but you have Natal! that is the next system! It sounds like it might cost as much as the 360 does now too. that would be funny. I do hope sony does this too though and come out with a good bit of games for it before launch. The PS Eye has been sorely neglected for what it is capable of.

» sure...

because it will cost as much as a 360 (arcade)...

and seriously does anyone really remember the launch titles for 360(the ones that actually made launch day, not the list floating around online)? gun and quake4 were the best launch titles and those were both ports... the rest were pretty much crap or sequels and ports.

i'm actually excited about natal, but since they haven't even mentioned a price has me a bit worried.

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP, are they gonna have The Killers play some music for it's launch again too?

» Well as for price

in a GameTrailers interview with John Schappert about E3 towards the end there is a part about Natal. Questions were asked such as would it be over $100 and does it use 3DV technology. The answers received was there was nothing on price yet and we are trying to make it affordable to everyone and "it uses wonderful new microsoft technology"

Also weird thing is Halo ODST according to him will be a full retail release with a full retail price.

» Hah.

I find it quite interesting that everyone's always complaining about Xbots, but as soon as something happens on the 360 scene, PlayStation wh0res are right there shlttlng their pants.

» Jaxe

Same as the other way around.

» LOL

Laughing at all the comments. I don't care about the 360 anymore, only for the exclusive RPGs they have but other than that, I sold mine and stick with PS3.

» Not at all

Go check out popular Xbox forums, they really don't give two sh*ts what happens on PS3...

by Master Chef - 2009-06-14 19:10
» ok

Are sequels suddenly not considered games anymore? The 360 had CoD2, Condemned, those 2 you mentioned, Kameo, PGR3, and NFS Most Wanted. Those titles were all pretty good games, and all made launch and were available on Nov 22. That's actually a pretty good launch lineup, one of the best recently lol

And all of those other games are better than Gun and Quake 4 haha
