Sequel-trouble steaming: Left 4 Dead fans signing up for a boycott of Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam |
Ó
Usually, when a good title is announced to have a sequel, fans take it as good news. That's not the case apparently for Left 4 Dead's (Xbox 360, PC) community base. Over at Steam's Community Groups, some 15,000 members (and counting) are calling for a boycott of Left 4 Dead 2, and with a lot of reasons to back them up.
Not getting why they're all so upset? Let them count the ways:
- Significant content for L4D1 was promised, and never delivered
- Valve put little faith in L4D1 since they almost certainly started working on L4D2 right after release
- The fact that L4D2 is nearly identical to L4D1 will decimate the community for both games
- The announced date is not nearly enough time to polish content or make significant gameplay changes
- The new character designs seem bland and unappealing so far
- L4D2 is too bright to fit in with L4D1Â’s visual aesthetic
- The fiddle-based horde music is extremely disliked, though the differently orchestrated music is otherwise welcome
- L4D2Â’s release will result in a drop in quality and frequency for L4D1 content, even compared to before
- The community has lost faith in ValveÂ’s former reputation for commitment to their games post-release
Although am thinking, a Part 2 could definitely be a great avenue for them to put new things to the table. Say, a new set of characters in a different town (but within the same timeframe as Part 1), maybe? So it's gonna be something like a parallel, simultaneous event or something. Maybe they can even have the Part 1 team radio in a special "guest appearance". And new special Infecteds. A more sensitive Witch, perhaps? One that gets startled by the noise around her as well (in which case they'll need to include a new silencer gun too!)? Or an invisible Hunter?
Oh, the possibilities! Pardon me for getting carried away. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll leave this debacle for now and go slay a Tank.

LMAO that's the biggest joke ever! really, these fans are basically saying, I hate L4D fix it so I like it, and then maybe make a 2nd one.
well a big F U to all complaining. You've got a full year of enjoyement with L4d before L4d2 comes out, it is now at real bargain price everywhere, a sequel is really good news.
I can't believe what I'm seeing on the internet.
I remember back in the days when FF8 came out, then one year later FF9 came. OMG Square has ripped us off!!!
OMG Madden 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 are all one year from each others! I'm really pissed! Splinter cell 1 2 and 3 came out really close to each other, that's the end of the world!
OMG! You companies you are ripping us off!
No they're not, stop complaining, if you don,t want to buy L4d2 do not. But please keep your idiocy to yourself.

when you were a kid and a sequel came out, you enjoyed it and you shut up. Gamers are now so cool and elitist that they are the one to decide wether a game should exist or not. This is the pinnacle of arrogance. And that, yes gets on my nerve and makes my rant 100% justified as basically what this *****ty list of complaints they've made says is;"I'm a dumb elitist fanboy who will kickback whenever there is a change of plans."

It's like those MGS/FF/Zelda/Mario fanboys... Which is a testament of how good L4D was.
Now please shut up and enjoy your games.

Am I the only one that got bored of this game a week after it's release? It just gets too repetitive. It was a great idea though but needs more content.

I agree with the people complaining about it, but I won't be signing the thing. I'll just let Valve know what I think by not buying L4D2.
Altho AFAIK Valve has not confirmed the price of L4D2. If they have someone please show me. So maybe L4D2 won't be $60 and all this complaining will be for nothing? I'd buy L4D2 at $30 or $40, but $60 is not cool
