Scribbling Master Chief with Halo 3's customizable controls

Control schemes can always make or break a game. Especially in an FPS like Halo, you gotta make sure that your controller setup really brings you inside Master Chief's suit. Enemy pwnage should come easily if the control settings came naturally to you.

Bungie boy Frank O'Connor has updated their site with confirmation of this. Final control schemes for Halo 3 is already being played with. He also mentions:

The mysterious X-Button might ironically end up being a mysterious other button. But no matter. We're going to give players plenty of user-customizable options to make them happy. And the um, "feature" in Halo 2's Southpaw controls where the triggers were reversed, will be amended and we'll give you a couple more options too.

Master Chief in scribbles!Curiouser and curiouser. He says that players would get to modify controls at will from anywhere in the game - pause menu, gameplay, Lobby - and as Frankie's stated, it "saves that frantic four seconds at the start of a match when you realize some left handed, communist octopus was using the controller before you."

Speaking of octopi, Frankie's gone squiggly with a photo update. No, that's not an in-game render for Halo 3 (but it might be interesting to play the FPS in curly, twirly, scribbled animation).

Frankie only stated that it was part of his dev-kit, he didn't actually say that it was in the game. (though it would be nice)

>"Personally one of my favorite control features right now (probably only truly vital in a dev environment) is the ability to change my control scheme at will, from anywhere in the game – Lobby, gameplay, pause menu – wherever. Saves that frantic four seconds at the start of a match when you realize some left handed, communist octopus was using the controller before you."
