Word has been spreading around the internet that the possible packshots for the sequel to Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) as well as a general description of the game have already been revealed via an online survey.

According to Joystiq's unnamed sources, marketing research firm Listen Research has allegedly been running an online survey asking users which of the two images (pictured above) would attract gamers more and what picture provides a better fit for the description of the game:

Rock Band 2 lets you and your friends play as a virtual 4-person band, in person or online, to rock out to some of the biggest rock anthems from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.

Rock Band 2 will be a full featured sequel, similar to full featured sequels you see released by other big video game franchises, such as Need for Speed, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, or Halo. In the music/rhythm genre, it is similar to the feature jumps made from Guitar Hero I to Guitar Hero II or Guitar Hero II to Guitar Hero III.

Personally, I'm partial to the image on the left. What do you guys think the packshot should be?

» they look fake

if you ask me they both look fake. to much detail in the people pictured, and they are inconsistent with labels and what not.

and is this game rated yet? i highly doubt it.

» Cool :D

Wouldn't it have been more awesome if they used some real bands on it and released multiple covers? I mean, if I saw a Disturbed Rock Band 2 package, I'd pick it up in a jiffy.

» If money is a case...

Then I'd go with the one on the right but if money isn't a big deal then totally with the one on the left!
