Rumor: Left 4 Dead 3 coming?

It's barely been a week since the hotly-contested, highly-anticipated sequel to Valve Corporation's zombie-survival game, Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC), has been released, and already, we're hearing talks of a sequel to the sequel. Are we going to hear of another round of boycotts, then?

Of course, this is in no way confirmed, so we're tagging this as a rumor for now. However, what the rumor mill is churning out is that "Left 4 Dead 3" will again have four survivors duking out against the lumbering undeads. Here's the part where it gets a little bit suspicious. The supposed setting of this new title: Australia.

To those who have not been following up on this story, Australia's OFLC has initially refused to rate Left 4 Dead 2, thereby forcing Valve to resubmit the game censored. That could be their idea of poetic justice, but we can't really know now, can we?

We'll keep you posted on this one. In the meantime, go enjoy Left 4 Dead 2.

new suvivors should have 2 boys and 2 girls,and the fun thing would be if they made it like dead rising,you should set off with 7,and if you die you turn into a differint survivor with 6 remaining,and when only 4 are left,on the last level,depending on how many people are left,the hold off should go on until theres only 2 people left,they tryed to make 1 and 2 like it was a movie,like the loading page would have the fake poster,and credits at the end that are really scores,so they should make it more realistic.i mean see any horror movie,pick one off the bat,they always end up like sitting ducks with only 2 people to survive.thats why vaulve should make it like that,and i know you guys will get mad because i said 7 survivors should be in it and its called left 4 dead,and the 4 represents the number of survivors,so first,i dont think there should be another set of 4,that would be to obvious,i mean 4 survivors every time?lame....so they should mix it up,and if the name of the game stops my idea,why dont they call the third one and make it the final- "7 left for death."thats not so bad,and instead of 4,they spell it for,

I agree I think that they should put 7 people in the game and whenever you die you switch to a different person each time you time you die so that it will people more playing time in the game cause whenever you die you lose and you have to start all over again it gets really stupid whenn you just die and you can't switch or anything.I knw it is realistic because once you die you die but its a game it shouldn't be that realistic so whenever you die you can switch do a differnet people like in The movie The Crazies when scottie annes boyfriend dies then it down to Russel, The Sharife and the wife judy then Anne dies so now its down to the Shariff and Judy and Russel, so Russel get the desease and he sacrifes himself for Judy and the Shariff so in the end they make to Idaho. I play left 4 dead 2 and my 7 years old bro loves it! You know that 23% kids plays this game, I have a better idea, in Left 4 dead 3 they should let you make your own guy/girl and you can drive cars, find homes and barricade them or shops, I hate like dead center you have to the safe room, I mean, you don't like one place that a door can't open by a zombie and it's not barricaded, they should let the sruivers Explore the city, find different items, I mean all you have is a pills A. & a health kit, that's it! You're both idiots. What made up for L4D's lack of story was the memorable characters. Characters that had personality. If we had to make our own character in the next game, chances are the dialog is going to be mediocre. And this isn't some open world Zombie game, it's a FPS, and it should stay that way. I was really really disappointed with how the story went on left 4 dead 2. I thought there would be more story in it... Okay, let's say there was a story, but it wasn't even detailed. I can't even call it a story, it was just like a chitchat. I wish the valve corp could make a single player game for l4d with a good story. That's why many people like resident evil, it wasn't just because of the zombies or killings, it's the story that amplifies the greatness of the game. I'm kinda getting bored playing l4d and l4d2 coz it doesn't have a story. It's just plain killing, killing, and more killing while getting to the next safehouse. It didn't even show what happened after they escaped onboard the chopper. So, do you guys think they were leaned on the wall and shot or do you think the government took care of them, recruit them or what? You realize the story of left 4 dead is just you trying to survive. That's it. It's primarily a team based shooter, not an rpg. You want story go play something else, or go play Half Life2, there's plenty of story there. Valve knows what they're doing, obviously with as popular as all of their games are. People who are in australia should be aware that Valve got asked to make the zombies in the game more like left4dead 1 as in they looked too human so they considered it more to realistic in respect to morals, I agree that the zombies in no.2 are more like humans than anything compared to no.1 so all they really had to do was a few tweaks, but to be assholes they actually purposely just released the major censored German copy to Australia giving Australians the finger, so be aware this company treated you like shit and will most likely do it again in no.3 because they are childish imature losers which wouldnt even give refunds to people who bought there dodgy version, which they advertised with the proper version so it actually disinformation and class action lawsuit would probably work for those who got ripped off. Remember that they could released a redo decent version but choose to give Aussies the finger get the facts right before you blame it all on the board, rebellion released avp without problem it had gore it was the issues of how the zombies looked mostly.

I've neve played the game, because im a ps3 player, but
ive researched the game a bit, watched clips on youtube, and
what if their was perhaps a strippers bar, deli or butchery,
aquarium, forests and rivers, airport, sewage systems, and
isles for l4d3. For enemies, what about an enemy called the

Zapper, that could stun and knock you back from concealed distances by applying currents of weak electricity.

An enemy called the Keeper, that led a pack of mutated animals whose blood attracted
every type of zombie in the game.

The Gorger, who can spray weak
acid from all over his body, eat chunks of zombied flesh or bovine meat, and hurl it into your face with extreme force.

The Sucker, an enemy that sucks in air forcibly, ripping skin from survivors in close range, if it come close enough, it will vent out the top half of your body in one hit. If it is decapitated, the suction can be used against other zombies.

The Blocker, A large skeletal fleshy mass blocking hallways that can quickly lower your health with roaming tentacles or zombies
attached to it underground to burst to the surface. It could also
puke identically like the boomer.

The Slasher, A zombie, whose arms,face,and chest open up into teeth, which it can fire, and leave temporary acid inside the teeth before exploding into corrosive bile.

The Lurcher, an enemy that salivates intself in liquid that makes it slippery and harder to kill, it can spit large glops of spit that will pin players to any surface.

I have an idea, they should make the 3rd one with 2 new infected and 4 new melee weapons and more guns. They should also make a new mode called barricade. Its like survival except better. The objective is to build a barricade strong enough to hold out kinda like Nazi zombies in Call of Duty 5. The new melee weapons are gulf club a mop a microphone stand and a (candle stick) (Maybe) It should take place in LasVegas with coach Ellis Rochelle and Nick and towards the end of the game it should show Bill Francis Zoey and Louis and versus should be 8 vs 8 or 4 vs 4. 2 new infected is one guy that should be call electrode (Powers similar to the witch) he zaps you with one hit and kills you but you can't play him and another infected character would be spiker, he should pull metal out of his back from crushing fences and throw it at the survivors. New weapons are machine guns a revolver a rocket launcher and a grenade. Isn't this a good idea.

this nice but about the electrode it's like a name for a zapping zombie or somethin' and if they make l4d3 they must add some more physics in the game like shooting on the door or any object, they must give a realistic physics.

i have a couple ideas for new special infected.

what about a guy called the controller...his ability is he will get from a far distance and will shoot a telicinesis like wave at a survivour...once the controller hits, the controller is unconsous for 1 minute but the controllers mind goes into that survivor taking control for 1 minute rather it chose to atack the survivors or walk right into the infected...the only way to stop it is to either find the unconsous controller and kill him or kill the controlled survivor.(avioding him until it weres off works to)once 1 minute is up the controlled survivor is free and the controller will die then and there.

another idea is the destroyer....he is lightning fast...he is unplayable...when he atacks he dose an instant 80 damage but he dies emetadly after...once your targeted theres no avoiding

Being a witch would be cool, the only problem is you have to startle her for her to attack, and it would suck to be sitting and crying a whole round of versus because those bastards decided to sneak around you. lol

Decorate the safe house instead of them all looking the same. (makes it more realistic)
Deffinately more weapons (light machine gun, flame thrower, spiked brass knuckles? nail bat, sledge hammer, tire iron)

Ok so my idea is that it is like you play as the original then the new survivors, and along the way the old survivors heard like gunfire and then go to find what it is, so when they get there it's like some collage guy, then it flashes over to the new survivors and they get some sort of signal from the old survivors to go to this location, then they decide to go to some base, and when they get there, they find a couple more survivors. And they go and decide to make a colony or a secure base or just a new place to settle.

And they need more guns, like civilian guns.

I loved left 4 dead and left 4 dead 2. I dont mind if left 4 dead 3 dusnt hav a detailed story because it wasnt the type of game made for a gripping story. But if Valve decide to make a gripping story then i hope they will keep it separate to the other game modes.
FOR EXAMPLE: instead of making a single player and a campaign mode. Create a 'story mode' and then split the 'campaign mode' into single and multiplayer.

It would be interesting to see how the game might use weapon sights (maybe use 'rs' to melee). Finally would be cool with more infected like the witch. Just to scare the crap out of us.

All these 'ideas' of yours are never going to be implemented in #3 do some research into games development, that kind of change to a game is a genre of game called 'indie' with large companies they wouldnt take a risk like changing the whole game to be a story based rpg game from a run and gun style game... Many small things like the aiming system, and having 4 survivors add to the atmosphere. Adding 8 survivors would make the game much less effective to the target demographic. So get your 12 year old minds out of the concept that making you kill zombies on the back of an infected elephant or something is a good idea, leave the posting to people who have a clue. Btw the biggest change will probably be along the lines of 'new characters, new infected, new (real) guns, new location' also look at valves history with sequels... L4d - l4d2 the change is new modes and what ive said above, why would you thing theyd add more? Its a hugely popular game how it is. for those of you suggesting rocket launchers....would not that make the game really easy? theres already a grenade launcher, but its hard to use, a rocket launcher would spoil the game completely. no cars, cos the whole pointof the game is trying to escape the zombies, if you had a car you would complete the game in like five minutes haha. as for all the new ideas for special infected, there would be not much point apart from something new to look at, gameplay-wise all the main functions have been fulfilled (attracting zombies-boomer, long range-smoker, creating unsafe areas-spitter)

many of the ideas ive seen from people posting on here are just ridiculous and would make the game far less entertaining. I have made plenty of my own private games for the PC, i know what i'm talking about, and so does valve. They're not going to change a game thats as big a hit as it is into something different, especially not an RPG. As far as changes go, personally i agree with one of the other posters. They shouldnt change anything about the game other than new game modes, weapons, infected, maps, and maybe some other minor things. So keep the same formula, new campaigns, no vehicles...but maybe the back of a truck that is controlled by an unseen npc, at the most 2 new special infected, uncommon commons are now more widespread in each level but there are a few exclusive uncommon commons...but I'm pretty sure that both infected CEDA and infected police can coexist, when a hunter, smoker, or whoever grabs you keep the attack in 1st person...that should up the scare...for smoker you should be able to turn your head (as a survivor) 180 degrees either direction. Get both genders for ALL special infected...probably not witch or tank.. the setting would be nice with it being a month or two after the infection it should start out as 4 new survivors: I want to see an asian there guy or girl doesn't matter, a mother of two who knows that her children will be on one of the cruise ships....a soldier who is the sole survivor of his unit and finds out that he is a carrier and last...I a computer nerd who thinks this is a game....just my ideas for characters...but I think for online play it doesn't and shouldn't matter if the characters aren't preset...so customizable as I've read above sounds good.. and the voices for finding items could be a reused from any of the original cast...so I could make a character in my visage and have Bill's voice. As for the new specials....I don't think any fan could make a quality special now that there are 8 total.....so to do justice to valve...I won't add any of my silly ideas for special :] hopefully these are interesting

Well it would be cool if u get to play as maybe a small team of 4 soldier that survived the outpost attack and escaped(if u read the sacrifice comic u would know what im talkin bout) and theyr're radioing for backup but no one is answering or anything and basically they got to make their way to some other safety zone outside the city?....and seeing as the soldiers in the comic had gas masks they should put it in the game aswell?....cuz maybe these guys are Not immune like the previous protganists? and gettn infected is more of a factor now than before? ur masks break it becomes harder for u to help out ur teammates and u have to find ur way to a safehouse to slowdown the infection rate? if infected. Oh and maybe they can put a vehicle in one of the campaigns but maybe like after a minute of driving its impossible to continue because its blocked by something or w/e. I think you should be able to customize only the charector's CLOTHES/guns.It defeats ther perpose of the four survivors...you wouldnt really feel a conection if it was your own charector and not Zoey or Rochelle. It would be cool if you played as the team from LFD2 but met up with the team from LFD later on and split up again or mixed up the team (some from both) but you only played with 4 at a time, and had to meet up at every safe point. Also, more intros/clips throught the levels and at the beginings of missions so it has more of that "movie" effect. There could be a zombie called the Swimmer or something that is in the water (of course you would have to have some levels that involved crossing a river or something) that pulls you under and drags you around. I dont really care what LFD3 consits of as long as they actually make one

I think the infected are too easy except the jockey. He is very annoying after a while and is a pain in the middle of a hoarde attack. Other than that I think the tank is slightly underpowered. The witch shouldn't be stronger than a monsterous 15 muscle bound freak. If they do make a L4D 3, make it very challenging. And make the tanks worth using your last clip on.

The one thing they need is some type of special infected that's damage can't be avoided, since the infected can't really avoid the human's attacks. the spitter's acid can be dodged, jockeys and hunters shoved off, boomers don't really do direct damage, etc. they could make something like "The Pitcher" that picks up and throws objects, like trash cans n stuff, nothing big like the tank though. this would have extra effect if it could pick up and throw propane and gas tanks to help disrupt the survivors more.

after playing versus, i feel the specials are far too underpowered: all of their effects can be avoided, yet the survivor's bullets are totally unavoidable other than staying out of sight. i think some type of throwing enemy could work, like "The Pitcher" that could throw rubble or something. even better if it could pick up either environmental items like trash cans and benches to do more damage/hit more people, etc. lastly, it would be awesome if it could pick up gas, propane and oxygen tanks, to help disrupt the survivors and prevent them perfectly preparing for everything. this could be at the cost of the pitcher spawning half as much as the other special infected or something, as making it too weak defeats the purpose of it.

I've been thinking, left for dead is fun and all just as it is, but what if it was made as a sandbox game. I mean imagine: you get an entire city to explore but a thousand times more possabilities. Even keep all of that random fun that the first and second game had but just take it a little bit further. Make it so that the supplies, crescendo events, fanalies, tank and witch positions, and alternate paths are all randomized; even make the ways out of the cities randomized. I'm very grateful that valve put in the randomization but ten or twenty playthroughs later and i start gettin too prepared of what was going to happen the twenty-first time. If it was setup like a sandbox game the game could have 100 times the amount of possabilities per campaign/city. the only conflict with the idea that I've noticed is that the gameplay would be slowed down extremely. Because the player would have to find his/her own way out coordination and planing would take a lot out of the intensity that the first and second game possesed. I havent thought of a solution to that problem but I guess it doesn't matter I'm just spit balling.

I think it should show in detail of how the survivors met up. In left 4 dead 1 it gabve you the cut scene on the street and then started the mission of on the roof. But other than that it didn't really give you any background story. Left 4 dead 2 was different as they exchange names in the elevator on the firstm mission. But did anyone else notice on the left 4 dead 2 trailer thing it shows the whole campaign of dark carnival the swamp parish and all that and then just cuts to the start of them climbing to the top of the stairway to the start of the game where the helicopters fly over.

My ideas for left 4 dead 3 : I wouldnt wanna change the game completely by turning into a free roam game but a sided quest here and there would be nice and not them shitty generator mini game things. Also you could use the sidequest to show the characters emotion and maybe link sidequests to linking up with new members?

Btw i dont wanna insult anyone but i dont think having 7 people in one game would be a good idea there would be no excitement as everyone would just be fighting for kills. But then again if you kept the same system with the healthpack situation it would be interesting ;)

i thought you could run around a old town in the country then you get to a airport and there should be 4 survivors and when 1 died u couldnt get him back till the end of the level and therse 1 new zombies called splinter (where the zombie grabs u and splits u in half) and thats wat it should be sort of like in left for dead 3

The only thing that I dislike about L4D is that the game is way too repetitive. Like seriously, if you compare both L4D & L4D2, you can see no differences except several new features were added in for L4D2. Other than that, everything is just same; shoot, run, shoot, run, mission accomplish

Valve should have at least apply some abilities & weaknesses to each character. Or set more interesting missions like rescue a civilian and things like that which might somehow force the players separate into two teams. Not the scavenging minigame, lame and boring as you need to run back and forth multiple times just to collect those freakng gas tanks.

It would be cool if they include cutscene as well.

I think that in L4D3 they should let you customize your own character. Or they should take 2 ppl from L4D1 and combine it with 2 ppl from L4D2. THAT would be beast. However it turns out tho, Im sure it will be awesome!!!

Cars has to be the dumbest idea i have ever heard. It's a survival horror, not hard to survive when your in a car near untouchable grow up kids. And the flying specials would ruin Versus' mode, for intance i fly my victim into a spot unreachable to other survivors once again grow up kids.
The only thing i really want to see is maybe aim down the sights to challange the specials a little more. If they put in cars and flying specials i'll stick to Left 4 Dead 1 thank you very much. Left 4 Dead 2 wasn't near as creepy as Left 4 Dead 1, in my opinion, fanboys don't need to rage on me .

all these ideas are great but i really like ut i dont know why biut i find it fun to find other survivors and help them get saved with "us" like dead rising but idk like you help them live and later once you get many survivor s you go into the huge safe zone like a huge mall funll of survivors or idk military base ans then some how the zombies break in and all the survivors have to battle and then 4 leave it out alive making it easy to have a l4d4... i know its nothing like the normal l4d but then again its my poinion

I want the infected to not be so freaking fast, you can never run away from them! I get really pissed off when zombies are always chasing me like crack babies. They need to make us faster or them slower.

Left 4 dead 3 is coming in September 30th or maybe 2012 early February and There shall be new infected:The Howler, The ripper,The Hooker and finally The Infector. The new weapons will be: Riot Shield, Laser gun and Transportable Mini gun. The new Explosives are: sticky bombs and C4. Infected Information. The Howler, The howler first runs away and screams and cannot climb obstacles but summons hordes of zombies.The Ripper, The ripper has 2 heath types The ripper can move very fast and does 30 melee damage and has 1000 health per part and the special ability is: when shot on the body it the top half becomes Very fast and can just leap on the survivors and start ripping the survivors 20 damage per hit. The Infector , The Infector has 200 health and it's special ability is to control survivors.When in control you can use the survivors to shoot there own team or run back into danger faster than the survivors. The new Boost like the adrenaline shot we have the healing pill which instantly gives you 50 health.

i have high hopes they do and i think ther should be a new boss zombie like the tank and it should be very fast and its attak is like the witche mixed with da charger it would stick to the wall a surviver and if you dont shoot it off by 5 secounds it will kill a survivr the (discriptoin) it would be called the crain becuase its spine would be comming out of the back of him its arm is conected and at the end of it would be a long sharp and jagged bone and out of its chest his ribcage is bent out that has no purpose but it would look cool and its head would have its teeth sticking out of it also they should re enterduse the screemer and its secoundary attack would be to screem at a low frequensy that would slowly hert you the closer u get to him and the boomer pucke would make you see things slower so somthing is hapening yu wont now it till 20 secounds later and its explosoin would hert survivers if they were close to it use smily face if u agr

i just think they should add aim down the sight. like in call of duty. you know what i mean. there should be a point where u have to choose a path and every path will take u to some other place making you and your teammates to slit up or stick as a team. eventually getting u lost. so then u got zombies rushing at you wile you think of a way to survive and find the safe house, and every time the safe house is put in random locations so the location is not obvious to find the next time u play. also add more weapons ranging from diff assualt rifles, submachine, shotguns, hanguns, lmgs, etc. Add a create your character for u to show off on to your friends.
