Hey, Halo fans. Have you ever heard of a novel called Halo: The Fall of Reach? It was a prequel to the first Halo game and told the story of Master Chief and what befell the other SPARTAN-II super soldiers.

Aside from setting up the story of Halo: Combat Evolved, why is this novel important? Well, rumor and speculation has it that it could be the basis for the next game in the Halo franchise.

This rumor arose from a forum called "Halo: Reach" that was spotted on the official Halo forums, as you can see in the screenshot above. Now an image like that is easily manipulated, but there seems to be supporting evidence in the form of cached forum posts, which you can view here.

Kotaku also reports that the guy who tipped them off to the deleted forum said that it was supposed to go live tomorrow along with the Halo: ODST forum. Maybe this is the "unannounced AAA" game Microsoft was teasing a couple of weeks back?

As long as people enjoy playing Halo games, they won't stop making then.

And I am glad about that. Halo won't die as long as they don't over do it.

But once it reaches the point where you get Halo soccer and Halo Baseball, then it will need to die.

» FYI to people who didn't know

Halo Wars wasn't at all made by Bungie, another team did the RTS. And before anyone asks, this is far from milking the series anyway. Yes they're allowed to make different titles, but Halo is MS flagship title. And as long as it continues to pump out in quality, and not overdone, Halo will continue. Almost like Metal Gear Solid.

I've read that book, as soon as I finished it I thought a game taking place in that same timeframe would be cool. Fighting with the other spartans, and against the elites again. Hope this turns out to be true

I also dont get the talk about people wanting Halo to die or w/e. It's fine for Final Fantasy to have 13 main games and tons of spinoffs, and Mario and Sonic can have dozens of games, but 3 Halo games and an RTS are milking the franchise? Okay...
