Rumor alert: Gears of War on PC?

Gears of War - Image 1Thanks to some leaked gameplay footage, rumors of a PC version of Gears of War were recently brought up. The video, specifically tagged as PC footage, was seen floating around the Internet on Friday, showing some off visual improvements, added content, new bosses, and more maps. The video was promptly pulled, though copies made it to sites like YouTube and Google Video.

The rumors have been long-standing, and a lot of things hinted at an eventual PC release. A line of code from an NVidia driver for one. Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic Games, not really denying the fact for another. Now we have the leaked video.

A lot of eyes will be turned towards Epic Games this E3, waiting for some indication as to whether there will actually be a PC version of Gears or not. Word may very well come this Tuesday when Microsoft has its E3 press conference. Till then, we can only wait and chew on our fingernails a bit longer.

# Yeah maybe it wil be on pc.Guest 2007-07-07 04:17
The problem is just that you'll need a good, expensive machine to have a nearly as good experience as on 360

HAH i laugh at all you console fanboys. Ill need a $3000000 rig to play gears at the level of 360. Dont kid yourself. Its not up to players to how optmized the game is for PC. Do you even know what that word means??? Last time i checked 360 is inferior in every way to PC hardware. I dont even want this game. Ive had enough of it on my 360. It was way overhyped. I played it for 3 weeks and then stopped. And i havent played it since. It probably a port as well. If they made the game from the ground up. It would look awesome. But making a port look better is hard.

I would say anything over a x700 or 6600 would run it, but you would probably be looking at 7800/x1800 to run it on highish settings.

PC games are scaleable don't forget, but ya, an x700 at least to get any type of visual to make the game worthwhile...

Really, I don't see why MS WOULDN't publish this for windows.....they will make it DX10, Vista only....XBL for the PC enabled and hope to convert more people to Vista with it....

Either way they will make abit more money with it, so it'd be really silly of them not to put in on PC...

# You wish consoles were kingGuest 2007-07-07 13:38
Wait im a PC geek because i know what the hell im talking about??? I was born in 1989 so how im a living in the 1991. PC gaming is far from dead. You only wish you had Crysis. Plus i get the fun of both worlds. I own a 360 and an awesome PC. So now i can decide wether i want to get the ported xbox360 version or the actual PC version. You consolites crack me up. You only act like you know what you talking about. Hey nice arguement. I expect that from most lemmings. No arguements. Thats why they are easy to own.

# dx9 vs dx10Guest 2007-07-07 23:23
i am currently trying Lost Planet and the difference is basically unnoticeable unless you use very large resolution and max detail.

one thing i hate about it is the dx9 version crashes on me.

my rig is 8800gts, 2gbddr2,c2de660 0OCto3.11ghz and 800gb sata.

# there are drivers for this game in the same graphics card thats in the 360Guest 2007-07-08 04:16
if you get that card for pc it has drivers for the game on it aswell. they used pc's to test the game while making it. thats a fact. anyone couldve filmed it. or they could have just launched a video of gears and claimed they were playing it on pc. its not happening!
