Rumor: Alan Wake media blackout ending soon - Image 1Given that it's been more than a month since any word was uttered regarding Microsoft's upcoming Alan Wake (Xbox 360, PC) title, we imagine you're getting anxious for news.

As it turns out, so are the guys over at the game's official forums, who've also begun citing their concern due to the lack of any recent screenshots or videos.

While complaints like these for an upcoming title are pretty run-of-the-mill, what's interesting is that forum moderator Morry stepped in with this rather cryptic update: "Patience. The media 'blackout' won't continue for too much longer."

For one, that line partly explains why we haven't had any news for so long - there was an active effort to keep the project under wraps. The second part's a little more speculative - how soon is "soon?" Morry added this statement as a follow-up in the thread:

Microsoft have always treated it as one of their premier titles, often citing it as one of their most anticipated titles for 2008 (according to Microsoft, so don't take it as official!).

I'm certain that when the time comes, they will both start to release more information about the game.

One thing I do know, is that Remedy (Entertainment) does not wish to spoil the experience for players by revealing too much before its release. Due to the nature of the game, building up suspense is a key part, so there are plenty of reasons to leave parts of the game hidden until we can get our hands on it.

We remind the users that this topic is strictly under the rumor mill. At least until we can find more solid info to back it up with. We just hope either the devs or the publisher releases some new info soon, given that it was speculated to launch this year. Drop by again in case more substantial information is found in the coming days.

» I can't complain

that they are being hush about it. I'm tired of games being hyped too much for too long.

» I agree

The hype that a mediocre game like Smash Brothers recieved was absolutely ridiculous.

» Yet another game

That M$ bought out. This game was originally a multiplatform game.Oh well, at least I won't miss out cause I have both platforms and a PC but it still pisses me off that Microsoft is ahead on the console war not because of a superior product but because of deeper pockets. In a way we are the ones cheated.
